Shared by a colleague. This is the same section of soundboard. The crack is open in October and then closed in November, 3 weeks later. This is why your #piano goes out of tune. I don’t have hygrometer readings, but I would assume it is more humid with the closed crack.

You mute all the strings in that note except 1 which is tuned to match the rest of the piano, then the muted strings are individually tuned to match the tuned string to create a unison.
