Follower of Christ. Defender of liberty. Aspiring cypherpunk. Atypical homesteader. Nostr only, mostly because I had already dropped everything else as a toxic mess. You can send me a private DM via SimpleX: https://simplex.chat/contact#/?v=1-2&smp=smp%3A%2F%2FUkMFNAXLXeAAe0beCa4w6X_zp18PwxSaSjY17BKUGXQ%3D%40smp12.simplex.im%2F7_b1iX90gPiMa7K8NEUNNc8d2hLoy78K%23%2F%3Fv%3D1-2%26dh%3DMCowBQYDK2VuAyEAITsikJr0WDbvgphFlM90xs3QAIZiVKYf35cIqy3PZhk%253D%26srv%3Die42b5weq7zdkghocs3mgxdjeuycheeqqmksntj57rmejagmg4eor5yd.onion

It was obviously a staged, theatrical performance, but it does remind me of this sardonic Soviet joke Reagan used to tell:

In an disaster situation, do you think a gas station with limited supply of highly demanded fuel should:

1) Raise prices

2) Put a per customer quantity cap on fuel purchases at normal rates

3) Operate as normal until out of fuel

4) something else

I have a fairly strong opinion on this but am curious to hear what others think.

At large it appears wise to minimize alcohol intake but given our human fallibility this seems like an important line of research. Wild to see that this research was published in 1989!

Of course all the standard caveats apply, humans aren’t rats, etc etc

Read it for yourself here:

I recommend you go to people you respect or enjoy their notes and peruse what npubs they follow

This is the kind of deeply quantitative technical analysis I can understand 😂

Well this was a crazy read: a social engineering scheme employed to steal over 4,000 Bitcoin from someone in DC… which was held on exchange yet they also had the private keys to… something seems off there but still quite a story. Oh yeah, some people got kidnapped for a bit 🤷‍♂️

Maybe I’m being sanctimonious but this speech hit me kinda hard. First time I’ve heard it and it was moving/thought provoking nostr:note1mpwhrrnkwkv935tkwe9qs90g9th7wkel5ysu7m3qe7qknvhf9mrqvfklvz

Claiming that suddenly stopping extortion would hurt the economy seems like a quintessential broken window fallacy! Almost so dumb you’d need a PhD in economics to believe it 🙄
