Just heard a good analogy for free parking:

Free parking is like if a fast food place gave free French fries with every burger

1. Even if you didn’t want French fries you’re incentivize to eat them to the detriment of your health

2. Anyone who does choose to not eat the fries still has to pay for them

Minimum parking requirements are like if the government forced restaurants to provide the fries for free instead of letting the restaurants choose
