honestly do you "need" more? with a some very minimal media support you can allow more esoteric forms of communication, such as via memes, or emoji reactions (which I view as some sort of glyph style writing system with no written rules but understood conventions by the sufficiently enlightened, like if you learned hieroglyphs by being terminally online enough).
Alas, XMPP I knew you too well. Nostr is neat because it works. What does it do? it lets you talk to people. that's a pretty low bar tbh, but that's it. the draw is the people on it. Right now mostly it appears to be people jerking off about some nebulous threat to change the world forever and bring about fully automated luxury crypto utopia, which, fine. Ultimately, it's sperg software for spergs to talk to other spergs with, making it not much better than XMPP or AP.
Mastodon refugees? on MY special federated underground hipster not-twitter?
say it ain't so
I've thought about this a bit recently, but really I think that no matter how good the thing you make is, if you hand it to people who aren't worthy of it, then how can you ever hope for it to be used correctly, much less well?
might be a little too blackpilled, though
