Oh yes. I believe that all these temples tracking Sirius were built as an early warning system for the next comet / meteor shower: Sirius is the brightest star on the sky so if the brightest spot on the sky does not follow the alignments of the temples then it is not Sirius, it is something else and we are in serious trouble.
