It happened because GQP stacked the SCOTUS with anti-abortion judges during the tRump administration. The constitution and separation of powers makes it impossible for Biden to "veto" the supreme court decision.

Giving this a first listen. Have admired this fine singer/songwriter/musician for many years. Always love a good vocalist that lets her backup players stretch out, and showcases the music as much as her own vocals. #jazz

I've known Nicole Zuratis for probably a decade, and followed her career closely. She has appeared live on my radio show (with husband/drummer Dan Pugach). Above all she is a marvelous and skilled vocalist, songwriter and pianist. Since moving cross country, I've fallen out of touch with Nicole. I was glad to see this review of her new recording, and look forward to listening to it today. Thanks to nostr:npub18nsqc2h7du8w25l5dwfzsxpkwmzv654p695we7v2er2wgjfuxm7qse50dc for hipping me to her new release.

Live Review

Sun Ra Arkestra At SFJAZZ Center

Though on the surface, Dead & Company and the Sun Ra Arkestraโ€”the first a Grateful Dead offshoot focusing on rock tunes featuring extended jams, the other an #avant-garde #jazz ensemble that remains ahead of its timeโ€”might seem really different, in fact they share surprising similarities.

Busting Myths In #Jazz History: Focus On The #Music

In the tradition of providing the basis of a liberal arts education, it is common for institutions of higher education in the United States to offer some type of music appreciation course in the undergraduate curriculum. In some instances, this may be an elective towards fulfilling a required number of credits within a larger category, such as the humanities or fine arts.

Went to see a movie in the theater for the first time since 2019. #Oppenheimer was very good, but not close to the hype in the press. It is not the greatest movie of the decade IMO. The soundtrack was bombastic (pun intended). Very loud, sometimes even obscuring the dialogue. Sometimes it worked well, other times it was annoying. I would recommend. I learned a lot about the history of the development of nuclear weapons and of the man.

Too funny!

(no one) can stand an afternoon of jazz and remain sane... Mothers forbid their daughters to jazz because it leads to irresponsible actions. ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚ ๐Ÿ˜‚

The liner notes on the album refer to pianist as โ€œMcCoy Turnerโ€ in two places. Obviously a typo. Should be โ€œTynerโ€. Anyone else have this record with the name spelled wrong?

Just published this week's #podcast. No real theme for the show just an hour of killin' #jazz tunes. Sonny, Wes, Hargrove, Joey D and more. Enjoy!

Celebrating the 82nd birthday of Brazilian percussionist Airto. #Nowplaying โ€œFingersโ€ 1973 #CTI. Airto introduced us to a multitude of exotic instruments and sounds through his work with Miles, Chick and more. #Jazz Rock Folk Latin? This album defies catagories.

Alright, Iโ€™ll take a break from American politics and play some pick-me-up music from this 1974 recording of the LA Four. (excellent drumming by Shelly Manne on this)

Congrats to Ha Seong Kim for being awarded the Heart and Hustle award. I didnโ€™t know there was such a thing, but he certainly deserves it.
