Probably. The book was ok as I recall but I’ll probably see it based on casting choices.
Yep. Turns out people don’t like being forced into a polity with those they consider Other. Whatever the relative merits of their criteria for making that determination. At this point I’m willing to call that a permanent part of the human condition in the people that have it. One that isn’t going away. It’s one of the human natures that has always and will always exist.
Yes. As faith in government abilities and the worth of people’s money continue to decline violence will increase for a variety of reasons.
Reckon so. I’m 37. I doubt it will be cost effective to automate fixing mistakes on tires before the rubber is cured during my lifetime. I figure tires will still be used for the next 50-60 years anyway.
I’d also argue that tax funded roads, police, schools and medical care are all welfare programs and would need to end before abolishing borders.
Yes but if it’s all funded by taxes from the local community I’d argue they still have the right to exclude people who haven’t been paying local taxes if they exempt those people from having to pay going forward. Taxes get iffy on this stuff. In the absence of tax funded roads the property rights would be more easily assigned.
If we’re talking about communities being forced to accept outsiders it might be that blowback is a serious possibility and it might be that nobody likes who the blowback is going to be aimed at.
I’d support abolishing borders with the caveat that right to discriminate and not let outsiders become integrated into your local community is also a right that the members of the community get to exercise at their own discretion for any reason they choose. I mean all of it. The doctors can decide not to treat you. The stores can decide not to sell to you. The roads paid for by members of the community, to include local taxation can be closed to you though with that I’d add the proviso that you would not be obliged to pay in. It’s also not immediately clear to me why someone gets to move to a community and immediately get the vote. Whether that person moved 75 miles or 7,500 miles.
People are starting to realize that the government’s of this world can’t actually control things as well as we all thought. As more and more people start to realize that reality the lid is going to come off on all the conflicts the local regime put the kybosh on under threat of coming down on anyone that gets out of line with both boots. We’ve all lost sight of the basic reality that at a certain point people want different things which is fine but enough people want everyone else to help pay for what they want or to live life the way they do that violence is inevitable. The threat of overwhelming violence on the part of the government paused it but that only lasts so long. Will it run out tomorrow? Next year? Next decade? Next century? Depends on where you are. And none of us get to control when enough people in our area have hit that point that violence becomes inevitable.
The mistletoe down out of the tree. Ain’t nobody got time to go up there after it.
My parents have some in trees on their property. They even have a gun to shoot it out the tree with.
It’s not to cold here. Don’t know about how grey it is. This time of year I’m at work before the sun comes and won’t be leaving the factory before it comes down.
Pity. I bet trial by combat would cut down on frivolous lawsuits and tickets.

Hard to believe it’s been 4 years since I made this meme.

Wait. Hollywood gets it wrong?!?!?!?
