The book is a holistic explanation of Bitcoin, covering its Technology, Economics, Politics, and Philosophy.

Bitcoin is often misunderstood because people view it in silos:

If you see it solely as a payments technology, you may overlook its political significance as a censorship-resistant, unconfiscatable defense against the authoritarian state.

If you focus only on its political significance without understanding the technology and game theory that ensure its indestructibility, you may mistakenly think it will fail since governments can crush it at will.

If you obsess over its price and volatility without grasping monetary history and the reasons why fiat money and central banking are broken, you will miss its revolutionary implications for global economics.

And even if you cover all of the above, your understanding will still remain incomplete without appreciating its philosophy and ideological foundations: self-sovereignty, privacy and liberty.

As with the parable of the blind men and the elephant, you won’t truly "get it" until you see the full picture.

"Principles of Bitcoin" aims to cut through the noise, distilling Bitcoin to its first principles to provide this holistic perspective.

Oh I wanna argue with some of you. There are some reprehensible takes on here. For a bunch of “free thinking bitcoiners,” there’s a lot of yall sucking the dick of propaganda. Some of you have made me roll my eyes so hard.

For the most part, I think free speech is working on here. You get to say what you want. So do I. And no one, however, is free of consequences. The consequences are your own.

Social media came along years ago and gave us insight into others’ lives and thoughts. Now it’s a constant stream we can tune into or out of at will. I find myself tuning out a lot more.

The question for me always is, what brings me value? What is adding to my life? Is this a conversation I need to be a part of? What am I adding here?
