Yes 🙌

I can’t wait to pay for a meal via lightning with my bitcoin skeptical friends

@jb55 #damus can’t seem to save my change to default zap tip in settings, keeps reverting to 1000 #norush #justfyi

Level 6 - run your own relay ?

Stayed up too late last night attempting to get a relay running - my fiat mining will be slow today

Is blue sky and authenticated transfer protocol mostly the same as nostr, it’s just a company is behind it?

This is a profound change from all other social media. Only realized this today about #nostr. It's made me be more careful in how I post. Also...it makes me hate autocorrect on my phone so much more 😡

bitcoin blockchain is kind of big... if I want to run a c-lightning node (https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning) then do I have to also have a full bitcoin node running on that machine too?

Was hoping to spin up a cloud instance with all the running, but would run me like ~$100 a month? Am I missing a good alternative, or is the only alternative to do it on my own hardware?

If I already have a bitcoin-node running somewhere else, can I have a local instance of bitcoin core mirror my existing one via rpc credentials? (in order to not re-download blocks locally)

Same… there’s no one IRL to talk about Nostr with and it’s so exciting!

Super cool, I want to try it out but don’t want to spam it - gotta find something to sell!

Bstr, like “geester” but with a B in front

#[0] thanks for the zap!

Things I’m thinking about including in my nostr intro talk to undergrads on Friday - help me not to miss anything important 🙏

- nostr protocol

- what makes it different from twitter and mastodon

- nips

- lightning invoices

- github scene

Plus a list of simple project ideas for folks to hack on (some folks may be somewhat newer developers)

- a barebones client for sending and receiving messages

- a barebones relay

- an app that analyzes Nostr traffic and provides stats

- a nostr bot that provides some service automatically or when requested

Things move fast here and I still don’t feel caught up on everything Nostr myself so this is also a learning experience for me.

Audience is expected to be 50+ students

I plan to talk for 15-20 minutes.
