For the first time since Sunday I don’t have a backlog of CES stories waiting for me to look at.

What to expect at CES:

AI

Car Tech

Big and better displays

Chips - Nvidia, AMD, Intel, Qualcomm

Satellite Internet-powered devices

Robotics

That was not my favorite biennium. On a personal level. Hoping it’s the beginning g of a better one.

Generations reacting to the direction “Go down this street and turn left at the light.

Boomer: They should put a left turn arrow there.

GenX: I looked up the directions myself.

Millennial: Can’t I just be there when I get to the light?

Gen Z: it’s irresponsible to drive, but OK.

GenAlpha: Skibidi

Eileen got me the Elgato Prompter for Christmas. I set it up for the recording of East Meets West. Damn @robbdunewood you tried to tell me! This thing is great!

Squid Game season 2 was solid. It will it be the cultural moment the first was but it avoided a lot of the things that would have disappointed me. Unfortunately almost all the payoff is coming in season 3. But that’s not a bad thing.

I popped in and out of the Netflix NFL games today. I imagine a certain crowd will be upset about ads but no shocker there. Only other quirk I noticed was that it would start me where I left off when I left and came back and I’d have to fast forward to live. Interesting use case assumptions.

What goes better in peppermint coffee? Gin or whiskey?

Happy anniversary of the first humans to orbit the Moon in 1968, to all who celebrate.

Just lost whammageddon. Slain by a YouTube short of funny cats showed me by Eileen. 🤦‍♂️

I am becoming more of the opinion that maybe Mozilla should join the open source Chromium project. It could provide a counterweight to Google and MS and I think we need browser maker competition more than browser engine competition.

Interface is more important than catalog

I was unreasonable pleased to hear @mollywood.co and Andrew Heaton share the exact same take on the migration between social networks coming from different perspectives.

I often see people on social media say “I can’t believe…” and then something that doesn’t end up being true.

If for some reason you were wondering, MSNBC is not for sale. It’s part of a corporate restructuring that will separate several properties into a separate company to protect Comcast P&L. It will be owned by the same people who own it now. And none of that will happen until the end of next year.

A year ago this is what JY Park looked like at the MAMA awards. This year they’re on LA and I’m going so I can see what he does in person. Can. Not. Wait. https://nostrcheck.me/media/44c6b27c0cfc428e77092b65153c6e0eda4fd799d2db3572b1dbe25ab84f5b0a/07d9ea3564ac2a62115bda23d0074252f98895e310a3467f30f97fd87f95fbee.webp

The US DoJ *proposed* that a judge order Google to sell Chrome. “Demand” doesn’t give the right picture and the DoJ can’t “order” anything in this case. The reporting on this has been misleading. The Judge won’t even have a hearing on the proposals until April and Google will appeal.

Openvibe sometimes tells me my Bluesky post failed, even though it didn’t, leading me to unwittingly spam Bluesky.
