I think Nostr might have been a little too effective for me…I deleted my Twitter account 60+ days ago and went #nostronly, (transferring my addiction here, posting over 400 notes and 800 replies) but in the last 14 days I’ve only been active 8 times…my priorities have shifted again and I think this time it might be down to this purple protocol. I’ll be back I’m sure, but for now other things have my attention. 🙏🧡

What aspects do you enjoy most about your favorite sci fi or fantasy novels? Obviously it’s a mix of everything but what consistent themes do you find yourself returning to frequently?

To give an example, I tend to like complex and internally consistent magic systems or “hard magic” systems, eg Brandon Sanderson. He basically invents an alternative physics in a given series and there’s a whole set of stories around that.

I also put a lot of weight on complex characters, eg Game of Thrones. You know it’s good writing when someone can push a kid out of a window in the first episode and then somehow kind of make you almost like the guy later on.

If you don’t like sci fi and/or fantasy, what is it about the genre(s) that you dislike? And do you like one but not the other, or both or neither?

Always drawn to stories that seek a light out of the darkness. LOTR is my fave.

Super hard, because at the moment, very little is worth exchanging them for. That will hopefully change when we start living on a Bitcoin Standard and the products and services are based on proof of work. 🤩😍

I don’t think hodling is hard at all, for me, the hard part is understanding why I hodl.

The further I dive into this world, the further behind I leave the old world but growth is only natural, it’s ok to let things go if you find new joys.

Language and linguistics is one of my favourite rabbit holes to go down. Like how our languages influences the perception of time, space and colour, for example, I read recently that English speakers view time horizontally, “looking forward to tomorrow”, “let’s put the past behind us”, whereas Mandarin speakers view time vertically, “up month” means “last month” and “down month” means “next month”. This vertical orientation might stem from traditional Chinese cosmology, where the heavens (associated with the past and ancestors) are above, and the earth (associated with the present and the future generations) is below. Fascinating!

Bad English sorry. Great question! Free time is a luxury for many. For me it’s being in nature and learning something new. What about you?

They don’t like asking outside the script and they definitely don’t like being asked outside the script. I think it’s a lot to do with the way we raise and educate our children!

What are some skills that you don’t understand at all?

For me music is at the top of the list. My husband can hear a tune and then with a few tries he can play the tune on the piano.

He barely had any music lessons but can somehow do that. I had guitar lessons, and my teacher tried to get me to do that, but I was terrible. So not only can’t I do it, I don’t really even know where I’d begin. The inability to even see the next step.

Like if I see a pro athlete do something, I know I can’t do it, but I get the basic idea of what they did to get to that stage on kind of a step by step basis. But when someone can hear music and then just play the melody, my mind is blown.

I thought everybody could do that to some degree?! I bet you could if you really tried!
