This is great. I didn't have much in my Vanguard retirement plan, but when I heard about this, I pulled it out and bought bitcoin.

What is the real value of bitcoin? Is it NGU? Well, that is important, letting what we save for future needs to increase in value compared to if we left it in the fiat system. But I don't think that's the most important. To me, the real value of bitcoin is its threat resistance. A government or some other bad actor can come along and confiscate everything I have, but if I've protected my seed phrase, even to the point of torture, I can have the satisfaction that even if I am no longer able to possess it, assuming they take the torture to its extreme, at least they won't get it either. It's analogous to past Christian martyrs protecting their souls if they stayed true to their faith to the bitter end. I know, bitcoin is not as valuable as a soul, but I like the metaphor.
There's a good course on saylor.org on bitcoin called CS120: Bitcoin for Developers I. I started it last year, then got distracted as I often do, but I'm back at it in Chapter 7. Hopefully I'll finish it soon. I'm getting close. It's very thorough.
