#[0] #[1] #[2] I was just thinking of this actually (though maybe not exactly what you meant). There's a recipe I've wanted to try for years that I read as a kid. Apparently, if you boil six medium potatoes in water, boil the leftover water down to a cup, mix it with one cup each of brown and white sugar, and let the mixture age for a few days, the result tastes exactly like maple syrup.
