Nobody uses iPhones to be flashy and proud of them… only an android user would say this 🤣

Apple has created a genuinely good experience and has a lot of good privacy features like browsing through relays, blocking trackers etc … there’s a lot of great UX especially for backup and restore convenience, family accounts etc. open source OS doesn’t have much if any of this - and the features they do have tend to be tedious and complex.

The photo location feature is definitely a huge fail. Not even going to defend that. My hope is that they fix this asap and stop don’t this kind of nonsense. It ruins their brand.

I don’t know anything about Siri recordings and I highly doubt any of this is true- it would be a huge breach of privacy. But, I also don’t use Siri, never have, and never plan on it.

I also have a degoogled android and frankly the UX sucks. It’s passable but far from ideal. Google in general produces shit designs including material design. But, I still use that phone and I definitely like the open ethos over apples closed ecosystem.

I don’t know why people get up in arms over cloud backups. No one should be storing any sensitive photos in the first place … the backups are convenient - even though they tie you into a subscription. As a rule of thumb I just don’t take any photos that I would not be willing to show to someone casually - like an acquaintance.

Fun fact: OnlyFans has more users than Twitter. And they do not have an app in neither Apple nor Play store. It's all just a website.

i think those are all unicode fonts... whether you see them or not depends on the font and whether your app can render these weird things

you see users with these fancy fonts in their display names all the time... on web browsers mostly the whole set is visible in the default fonts

Trash opinion men go to fucking therapy. Find a psychologist who reminds you of yourself and do the work on the trauma that crushed your self esteem to begin with.

I need to figure out how many hours of effort went into developing Zen, Arc and Brave's initial releases. Also I am just a web developer, don't have much experience messing with CPP code, but I think I have to do it. Don't see anyone else doing it because it's too hard

well, if you can do it, someone has to do it... i for sure would switch from brave if it was bitcoin/nostr centric, but otherwise mostly the same (so, basically, removing a lot of stuff mainly, but keeping a few of the distinctive brave bits like sync and anti-tracking bits

It is very high risk. The work is immense and the reach is almost non existent.

This is why we didn't demand that people install pkdns to use Pubky, in fact we are doing a lot of work to allow web apps as easily as possible.

You gotta go to people where they are, I am even worried about asking users to install a key management app, and that is why there is always the option to upload your keypairs to a web app on your own risk, just to lower the barrier to test the system and what it has to offer.
