Star Wars: Mask of Fear is a heavy, political novel. The setting is just weeks after Order 66. Bail, Mon Mothma, and Saw Gerrera are navigating the shock of the Empire’s rise and deciding what comes next.
The pace is slow and deliberate, focusing on conversations, motivations, and the early roots of rebellion. If you're looking for action, this isn’t the one. But if you enjoy Star Wars politics and character depth, this is a must-read.
There are some great moments with new characters and a surprise relic from the Separatists’ past. The story builds the weight and provides the reasons for the spark of the rebellion.
Overall, it’s dense but rewarding. I plan to revisit it.4/5
