Do you know the median capacity?

Ln node operators do pay attention: They follow their earnings, adjust the channel fees, rebalance the channels when needed, check for new incoming channels and closing ones. It's not a trivial job, and improvements can be made but that is a Ln issue, not a bitcoin one.

When the "inscriptions gang of morons" were spamming the mempool with thousands of junk transactions, there was no way to adequately determine the correct fees, and txs could stay stuck for days even when they were set to mine in the next 2-3 blocks. Spamming "monkey jpgs" to everyone won't solve the problem. What we need are smarter algorithms to estimate correct fees and I believe that can be achieved even without loading all the junk into everyone's pool.

I personally believe the trade-off is not worth it, and if removing the OP_RETURN limit is not set as an opt-in option, then I will either have to patch core myself or switch to #knots. Neither of which I'm looking forward to do.

4 days and no still no winners😓

Nice try but no: h6 and K escapes to h7

Catching up on the #OP_RETURN change the #bitcoin core devs seem to want to shove down on our nodes.

Easy answer seems to be a switch to #knots by nostr:nprofile1qqs0m40g76hqmwqhhc9hrk3qfxxpsp5k3k9xgk24nsjf7v305u6xffcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp00qjrgs.

An even easier solution would be if Luke or someone else with a reputation would just fork the Core github to remove the changes affecting OP_RETURN like he already successfully did with the UASF fork that give us segwit.

My only questions are:

1) can I keep running my Lnd node without loosing my channels

2) Can I keep the same blockchain data without having to resync all of it from scratch

3) Does Electrs run with #knots

Seems feasible and I'm willing to try it out.

Any guidance would be highly appreciated 🐸

If someone tries to publish an old channel state the chances are he'll loose all his sats.

If my justice transaction is stuck in the pool because of a sudden peak in spam (and it has), all it takes is a CPFP to get it through.

Lightning has been working like this for years without any major issues...

My guess is you're using extreme cases with very low probabilites to justify the narrative for an unnecessary change to the current consensus (which sadly makes you sound like the "dickbutt" here)

Counterparty XCP (SOG, Rarepepes and many others) works just fine with the current OP_RETURN limits.

There is no need to debate changing it unless your goal is to attack the network which will end with a hardfork resuting in the creation of a Blackrock centralized, pos shitcoin pretending to be bitcoin.

Hello everyone! I want to share my opinion on how much a node or multiple nodes in the #Bitcoin #LightningNetwork can earn for their owners, using the example of my own nodes. I will provide the figures as an annual percentage.

Currently, over approximately five days, the entire network of my nodes earns about 500,000 satoshis per day on average. This is an average parameter. 500,000 satoshis is 0.005 bitcoins.

The liquidity on my side across all nodes is roughly around 300 bitcoins. So, let's simply calculate the annual percentage. You can roughly calculate it like this: 0.005 bitcoin multiplied by 365 days divided by 300 bitcoins. Multiply by 100%, and it comes out to about 0.6% profit from fees, which are currently at 700 ppm + 1 sat base fee.

This formula does not take into account the costs for opening channels, which include on-chain fees for Bitcoin channel opening transactions, nor does it include various expenses related to channel closures, whether automatic or forced, cooperative or forced. We are just taking the net figure as if the same channels were open all year without any expenses. You should also consider the risks associated with annual node maintenance. These include hosting costs, creating backups, labor efforts, and the risks of node hacking, which could theoretically be hacked and have all funds stolen.

Is this a profitable venture? You decide for yourselves. I just wanted to share some useful information with you.

Goodbye!

#Stats #LNBiG #profit #fees

Also small node operators have little chance of having incoming channels openened to them and must balance their outgoing channels by looping out sats which is not cheap either.

Even if my node isn't profitable, when coupled with Lnbits, if offers great LN experience (via Zeus) to friends and family🐸
