Writing also helps, but writing is not engineering unless in the form of code.

I absolutely agree with your statement but disagree with you saying there is no recession. What is considered a recession to you?

For me, if most people are doing worse off financially then I consider that a recession, even if a small percentage are having huge gains, skewing aggregate data.

Absolutely, it is the only saving grace for the average person. Most people are unfortunately not stacking sats though, therefore they are not doing well, and the economy is a representation of how individuals are doing financially, which is not great.

Therefore I reject the idea that aggregate statistics saying everything is fine means everything is fine.

Working class people have seen 25-30% inflation in the last four years and have not experienced similar salary increases, life has become more difficult.

If the economy is doing so well shouldn't people be more financially well of, because they certainly aren't.

The truth of how the economy is doing is often hidden by macro statistics.

Inflation over the last 4 years is like 25-30%, most normal working people are significantly poorer, we have to work more for less. The "economy" is not doing well.

More jobs, more work, but less ability to purchase good is not a sign of a healthy economy.

Unless you are close to the money printer, then you are doing great.

Love to hear him specifically highlight bitcoin.

Are there any open source programs for passing on bitcoin to loved ones that are less familiar with using bitcoin?

I think it would be useful to have such an open source program that you can customize with various steps / options for a loved one to follow, for example

You could walk them step by step through how to locate and use your hardware wallets to correctly transfer funds to a bitcoin custodian that you trust (strike, river, etc), or a p2p service (bisq, robosats) in order to sell the bitcoin for dollars.

If the bitcoiner is more familiar with bitcoin and comfortable enough to continue holding it but not an expert you could include steps on how to continue to hold and spend bitcoin, which tools to use, what an address is, what a seed phrase is, what YOUR seed phrases are.

Another route would be to include steps on how to contact an uncle jim like trusted figure to help with managing the bitcoin.

You could distribute trust by requiring a password to access various parts of the program and separating the program from the holder of the password, maybe a lawyer holds the program but the heir holds the password, or vice versa.

Obviously it is best for an heir to understand bitcoin fully, but having a modifiable and customizable digital set of instructions that have various levels of encryption may serve in certain situations.

Good book, the beginning is a little slow, but it really picks up in the second half.
