Idaho - Gardening, Technology, Homestead, Plant Propagation

Quite a lot this year, they are slowly going away.

#grownostr using an extra garden bed to start planting mulberry trees. I’ll probably try to sell these in the winter as bare root.

Not too many people want to be planting in Texas right now.

My mulberry has been growing extremely fast, great tree.

#grownostr #tank #pond pump running every 15 minutes in a concrete mixing tray with lava rock.

I have a 1/2” bulkhead with a pvc pipe/cap to drain to the bottom like a flood and drain bed.

You could use something like this to make a ton of new plants. Willow, elderberry, mulberry, blackberry. Key is shade, I’m using pond plant baskets to cover some new mint, sweet potato plants.

#grownostr #propagation another batch of mulberry and thornless blackberry to propagate. Working well with shade cloth.

#grownostr #BTC this shall be an epic interview: https://youtu.be/U5n8R9lq8SI?feature=shared

Biden was too early, maybe another October surprise.

Nursery reboot update... getting my mist beds set up again to take cuttings.

They are about 6 inches deep filled with concrete sand. 3' wide by 24' long.

I can fit about 4500 -5000 cuttings in here.

After it is cleaned out, I'll set up the intermittent mist system, which is made from 4 misting heads, a propagation water controller, and a water valve I can control from the controller.

The controller will turn on about 15 seconds every 10 - 12 minutes to mist the cuttings.

The cuttings are cut with multiple lead nodes. The bottom leaves are stripped off and only the top left on, and those are trimmed as well. They are then dipped in rooting hormone and put in the sand. The mist keeps them from drying out until they root.

What mist heads do you use? I’ve used Dramm stix in the past. What plants do you propagate?

Any price predictions on BTC in the next year?

#covid #debate #grownostr just brutal, Chris Cuomo seems like a sociopath, no self awareness at all. Dave kills it, wish Chris Martenson would debate him, he’s awesome as well.

Nice! My compost worms love being in biochar, great way to get it charged up. Just have a 30 gallon garbage can with holes in the top and a pipe down the middle for extra air.

#sorghum #milo second time growing sorghum, cool plant, about 7’ tall, lots of seeds, I’ll try cutting the head off to see if more seeds grow.

Have you used biochar in your worm bin? I’ve got about 20gallons in my garbage can bin, working really well.

Just started taking vermicompost to water plants.

No fire ants have infested the bin yet :)

And the compost worms do really well in biochar, I’m now putting it through there first, then garden.

I also bought a Wen electric wood chipper from Home Depot. $100 able to chip everything in 20 minutes. Use a particle mask, spray the biochar so it’s a little damp and less mess.
