Happy 4th to some! Nobody really knows the exact details of how it all began, but today, it began like this… #pancakes

“Bitcoin is the instantiation of a revolutionary idea: a system that cannot discriminate; that does not wield violence; that does not have special rules for the rich; that does not require identification or a particular status or level of wealth or race or creed to use; and whose rules cannot be manipulated by governments. Satoshi arguably took the best ideas from Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and their colleagues and gifted them to people around the world…
What if our monetary future does not continue down this path of centralization and debasement but, rather, follows a new path of decentralization and growing value? Today’s dollar hegemony was engineered by Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger. Tomorrow, the currency of America could be based on the twin ideals of the Founding Fathers and Satoshi Nakamoto…
On July 4, 1821, Secretary of State John Quincy Adams warned of an America that would become a global imperium “in search of monsters to destroy.” An America where the “fundamental maxims of her policy” have “insensibly changed from liberty to force,” where we have become “the dictatress of the world.”
Perhaps Bitcoin can help Americans reflect on our history and remember that our true glory, in Adams’s words, is “not dominion, but liberty,” and that our true march is “of the mind” and not the sword.”

Mad Hugs!

Thanks for sharing Lyn, both the pics and the taste of history and the current melange of human-ness. I had similar experiences throughout Turkey and felt it provides a unique way of being immersed in both past and present. Enjoy your time at home and continue sharing!
What’s a list of shoulda woulda in order of priority & technical savvy? … seems the latter would allow a noob to slowly build their understanding of the #bitcoin network.
You mean something like active journalism, some might call “news”, in the 21st century? Nope.
But if there’s a chance to info-tain for a small cut of advertising dollars based on eye-balls… that may very well coming soon.
“What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured.”
― Kurt Vonnegut, Palm Sunday: An Autobiographical Collage
Thinking in today’s world, this includes #bitcoin and #nostr
Happy Juneteenth #Nostr 💜✊💜
"Many Americans are celebrating Juneteenth, marking the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the United States learned they were free.
For generations, Black Americans have recognized the end of one of the darkest chapters in U.S. history with joy, in the form of parades, street festivals, musical performances or cookouts.
The U.S. government was slow to embrace the occasion — it was only in 2021 that President Joe Biden signed a bill passed by Congress to set aside Juneteenth, or June 19th, as a federal holiday.
And just as many people learn what Juneteenth is all about, the holiday’s traditions are facing new pressures — political rhetoric condemning efforts to teach Americans about the nation’s racial history, companies using the holiday as a marketing event, people partying without understanding why."

Happy Father’s Day to all the #Nostriches out there. It’s the most important thing in the world. Enjoy and savor the experiences you’ve had, shared and look forward to.

Touching some grass-ish between stacking. Spending time with friends and family from France is a good reminder to slow down a bit, enjoy the essentials of good company, food, wine, ambiance and exchange of stories and ideas.
Works wonders for the soul.
Doesn’t hurt to be in Sonoma.

For those who’ve never had to worry about the sustained value of their fiat dollars, understanding the relative nature of currency is a leap. But an important one on the road to understanding paved so gracefully by nostr:npub1a2cww4kn9wqte4ry70vyfwqyqvpswksna27rtxd8vty6c74era8sdcw83a and so many others.
Stay curious! Happy Fathers Day :)
NEWS: After sustained attacks from House Republicans, the Stanford Internet Observatory is being dismantled. A huge blow to academic freedom and our ability to understand platforms and influence operations https://www.platformer.news/stanford-internet-observatory-shutdown-stamos-diresta-sio/

Is it the “Stanford” that gives weight, or the people and the product? Can they be separated? If the latter, perhaps others will pick up the torch and continue to support the important work. Seems like complimentary work being done by others? Sadly, often ego and turf fighting get in the way of seeking efficiency and synergy for increased impact. And political pressure can influence - is there a way to inculcate from this? More freedom tech? Less influence if politics and money are separated? Thanks for sharing and spreading the news.
What is nostr:npub15xd2mmjnh3caykh77djsv73e0zkrp42jp5mwerx8f4m6su40wdvss7t3l3 ?
It's hard to say.
It's a new kind of social app, that's part NomadList, part Meetup, part Instagram, Google Places and Trip Advisor.
Some might say "this is not a good thing" bc people don't know how to categorise it, which is a fair criticism, but I'd argue, there was also no way to really describe Facebook or Instagram when they first came onto the scene.
Building something NEW requires that you discover what you are along the way. Especially if you're trying to fundamentally transform an industry. If you just want to build another widget or app - sure - it helps to solve a very narrow problem, and position it in a way that's very easy to relate back to something that exists.
But...if your aim is to do something both new, and transformative, you have to push boundaries and build things in a way that makes more intuitive sense, than logical sense.
That being said, it's got to be done in stages, with each stage delivering some form of very clear & precise value.
This week, we'll roll out the first version of Satlantis at nostr:npub167n5w6cj2wseqtmk26zllc7n28uv9c4vw28k2kht206vnghe5a7stgzu3r which is basically a "City Home Page" derived from social content on Nostr.
Anyone can follow a city, post content about anything in a city, search for & join events, find people in that city, connect with them directly, learn about a city (scores, stats, gallery) and see a dynamic feed with content people are posting on OTHER Nostr apps (if they hashtag the city).
In the coming weeks and months, we'll be rolling out rich user profiles, a feature rich merchant map with some really cool review & content features, and much more.
Stay tuned.

Love it! Also feels like something tech hardware will catch up to soon? 2-3-4 years? so we aren’t all chained to the larger-screen-view of laptop or desktop. Feels a bit like how graphical/creative content evolved from 2D, to 3D, then spunoff into Layers to allow for flexible manipulation and view of the data… can’t wait to check it out.
And sometimes there are some, tiny, delayed repercussions…. Wayyyyy after the shit went down.

Seems like SF needs a local version of nostr:npub1key55ax33gkl50uqemvl4khrtqrhzm7wzpc7fhseutt5ddkcwcrqgxlt3h - if others in SF area interested, I’m accepting Zaps to buy us an iconic spot on the cheap! It’s about time San Francisco got its shit together and embraced #bitcoin and #nostr

Why #Bitcoin is superior to #RealEstate as a store of value in two paragraphs. Nice work nostr:npub1guh5grefa7vkay4ps6udxg8lrqxg2kgr3qh9n4gduxut64nfxq0q9y6hjy

Definitely agree in general. I would add, as an investor in both, having others pay down the mortgage on property/housing that I may someday utilize, or others in my family way wish to use, is valuable in its own right. For this reason, real estate offers an interesting alternative investment category within “hard assets”.
Major caveat- much of the benefits of real estate investing accrue from how the tax code is written, while the benefits of #bitcoin are embedded in the protocol/network. And those fuckers are gonna slowly but surely change the tax code.
