Real video footage of a presidential speech made yesterday could be convincingly altered a thousand times whilst circulating the internet, sewing hysteria, chaos and confusion. State media would become the single source of truth for finding the original "real" footage, and even then we would have no certainty it was the original, unaltered footage.
What if that "innovation" is a global interface to the online world, enforced by a global digital identity system in which your actions online have direct consequences on your life offline, such as affecting where you can travel, whether you're allowed to have children or not, what you can buy and how much money you're allowed to save.
What if the people of the world openly embrace this system because the alternative is a world of chaos with 1,000,000 indistinguishability "real" versions of the truth?
What does the world look like when the amount of deep fake AI video content not only becomes indistinguishable from legitimate video footage, but the quantity of it on the internet outnumbers legitimate content?
There are no heroes in politics. That lesson is seemingly unlearnable. Where there is hope there will always be those who will try to exploit that. But power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Every point here is packaged up as being "for your benefit" but is really just a tighter grip of control that can swiftly and easily be changed to "for THEIR benefit".
The point is rewarding the creators of content you like. Paying for content, so that the writers of said content don't resort to shilling shit just to be able to earn a living from their writing.
You can't yet earn a living from zaps, but the underlying incentive structure is there and it will slowly come to reality as NOSTR grows.

Basically top 20 Witnesses produce blocks every 3 seconds. A backup roster of around 100 more witness produce the 21st block in each rotation.
Witness ranking is by votes according to the staked Hive (Hive Power) held by the voter. I’m witness 50 right now and that has taken me lots of work to earn community respect.
Requires 17/20 top witnesses to change the code.
To become a top witness requires votes from staked coins.
