so ATP is a protocol for public communication — think of it like generalizing blogging. you’re not going to be able to prevent people from viewing your blog on the public web, though you can prevent interaction (blocking them from commenting)

the what’s hot feed is the stupidest possible algorithm. it’s > (some num of likes), doesn’t understand languages well, and ignores images entirely. it’s dumb but we’re trying to finish other things right now

btw if you’re posting images, they don’t show up in what’s hot bc it relies on parsing text in the post, so non-text posts don’t get picked up. 🤷♀️

it’s hard to scale, esp when it’s not so clear-cut, but the long term plan for moderation is not implemented yet so we have to use the tools at our disposal to keep the peace until this protocol is finished
