“Accomplishments don’t erase shame, hatred, cruelty, silence, ignorance, discrimination, low self-esteem or immorality. It covers it up, with a creative version of pride and ego. Only restitution, forgiving yourself and others, compassion, repentance and living with dignity will ever erase the past.”
― Shannon L. Alder

Today marks the end of the petrodollar. There is a media blackout on the topic. "Saudi Arabia is not renewing the 50-year Petrodollar agreement with the US & it expires on June 9, 2024.
"For those who don't know,
The petrodollar was established in 1974, three years after the U.S. abandoned the gold standard.
Under the Petrodollar Agreement, Saudi Arabia agreed to sell oil exclusively in U.S. dollars in exchange for U.S. military, security, and economic development assistance.
Now you know why Gold is moving." @vandell33 (on X)

"Don't plant your bad days. They grow into weeks. The weeks grow into months. Before you know it, you got yourself a bad year. Take it from me - choke those little bad days. Choke 'em down to nothing!"

"All existence seemed to be based on duality, on contrast. Either one was a man or one was a woman, either a wanderer or sedentary burgher, either a thinking person or a feeling person-no one could breathe in at the same time as he breathed out, be a man as well as a woman, experience freedom as well as order, combine instinct and mind. One always had to pay for one with the loss of the other, and one thing was always just as important and desirable as the other." #HermannHesse
Hermann Hesse, "Narcissus and Goldmund" (1930)

Yesterday, around noon, I observed a blue jay relentlessly pecking a fledgling sparrow. The sparrow's siblings were standing around watching this. I chased the blue jay away and scolded him. I thought that was that but then the whole scene repeated. So instead of just chasing the blue jay away, I sat in the grass and inched my way toward the traumatized bird until I saw that it was too stunned to react to my presence.
I lined a box with torn up paper towels and placed it gently in there so he or she could recover or die peacefully. My husband helped me give it water with an eye dropper. We both had the chance to pet it softly and give it our heart energy. We had to keep checking to see if it would pull through. At one point it took a nap and I could see the breath was calmer.
Around 3:00 I went to give it some more water and it was alert! When I reached in it chirped sharply. I was ecstatic! I carefully grasped it loosely in my hand and took it outside. As soon as I opened my hand it flew to our fig tree. We were all so happy. --PURE JOY! I made an orange poppy seed cake to celebrate.
"Nothing is accidental in our life. Everything has its time and purpose. Mistakes are life's most powerful lessons of wisdom! We will never know how long we live. A kind word, a hug, a smile, a pure feeling can make our hearts happy in any season. Every day has its weight, but also its charm..." - Hrisostom Filipescu -
