Bitcoin pleb. NodeJS API developer based in Colombia🇨🇴 ⚡Full Lightning Node runner Feel free to open a channel to my LN node.⚡

That feeling when #bitcoin dips on payday the dip gets auto bought

Is there a way to setup notifications for posts from someone on nostr?

Some people post things I don't want to lose in the sea memes from all the people I follow.

Back on xitter I solved these by turning notifications on the people I really don't want to miss posts from. And creating lists with just those people. Can something like this be done on nostr?

#asknostr

I believe it's not a mere coincidence that in Moses' story, the people who wanted to leave slavery behind had to endure a long and difficult journey through the desert before reaching the promised land. The similarities between this story and current movements like the #bitcoin movement are hard to ignore.

it's open source. All people have to do if they want to keep using the app is:

1. Save you phoenix seed.

2. Remove from app store (because is linked to your account)

3. Install from their gh, w/o any app store

4. Restore from seed.

5. Done

Some people are buying bad quality homes that will fall into disrepair in under 20 years. That will take them 30 years to pay off. Let that sink in

Yes. I think multi sign is overkill for most people that are not publicly talking about Bitcoin if nobody knows you have Bitcoin that's better for most people. I mean everyone will take the protective measures they seem necessary. Someone with over 10 BTC probably should use multisig even if they're a nym. But most people won't get to be whole coiners let alone multicoiners. For most of us it makes more sense to have multiple keys and decoy keys instead of one complicated honeypot

Hey Joe. I've noticed that, here in Colombia, at least, people use/want USDT far more often than they use/want bitcoin. Have you found the same in other third world countries?

If so have you asked them why?

it's a telegram bot that creates boards where people can buy or sell bitcoin p2p.

How many of these books have you read anon?

Most people will never wake up. The majority have never made a difference. They just follow. We need to wake up a 3% that are worthy of being followed by those majorities

If you have self custody over your LN channels you can keep whatever % of your net worth on them as far as you trust the hardware you run the node on.

I already had a scare last year when my node's data drive suddenly died and I almost lost all of the funds stored on my lightning channels.

So make sure you account for that.

For my personal use I keep under 5% of my sats on my lightning channels.

Under 0.1% spread over custodial lightning services like alby, and minibits.

I stack on lightning with the @lnp2pbot on telegram and when my channels get too full I just make a large swap to cold storage where I keep the rest with UTXOs that are not smaller than 5 million sats.

When it comes to liquid I've only used it once when my disk died last year. Fees were over 500s/vb and since it took me some time to repair my node all of my lightning peers force closed the channels forcing me to use liquid and custodial lightning solutions until fees went low enough again to justify opening channels again.

My advice is learn the trade offs of each tool and use it when it makes sense for your current circumstances. And evolve your use cases as the circumstances, and the tools change.

Jesus #Bitcoin p2p markets dry up during dips, haven't been able to find a seller for hours

Problem is the average home built in 1929 is still functional with a bit of maintenance. While the average home built in 2024 will have fallen into disrepair within 20 years. Quality has gone down tremendously

I have used it as an intermediary between lightning and OC to empty channels from lightning and accumulate a big enough utxo before sending to OC. Found it useful last year when fees were above 500s/vb.

It was weird. As soon as the fees spiked almost all my channels were force closed so I was stuck with a couple tiny LN channels for the high fee months. Now that the fees dropped I opened big LN channels again so I think I would only need it if my peers decide to force close again for some reason.

I can see utility in a high fee environment
