What is Hero of Bitcoin?

Scheduled to launch in late 2023, Hero of Bitcoin is a video game that gets developed for the original GameBoy, Windows PCs, and Android phones.

It’s a simple side-scrolling platformer which brings back that nostalgic Mario Land feeling from the GameBoy days, but adds an El Salvadorian Bitcoin charm on top.

The story is centered around the idea of mid-life crisis and finding purpose in protecting Bitcoin against evil bankers and “poo coiners”.

Hero of Bitcoin also features pixelated representations of prominent bitcoiners, who guide the protagonist along his mission. It’s a one-man labor of love that you can support on Geyser with Lightning donations – the greatest perk being that of receiving a physical copy of the game and having your name included in the credits 😱

ShopInBit will list it for sale soon 😇

What are the two most successful projects on Geyser?

Bitcoin for Fairness, a humanitarian and educational initiative by Anita Posch, leads the charts for most BTC raised.

On the second position, there is a project named Bitcoin Trading Cards – an attempt to create trading cards reminiscent of Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh!

BTCTKVR Magazine No. 3: Breaking FUD launches in 2 days at Pizza Day in Prague (Paralelni Polis)🔥

What’s the craziest successful project on Geyser?

Apparently, it’s a Bitcoin comedy show that’s called Between Two ASICs. In only a few months, the initiative caught the attention of Twitter creator Jack Dorsey, who agreed to join as a guest.

To learn more about crowdfunding your project via Geyser (and possibly doing something even crazier), listen to S13 E16 of the Bitcoin Takeover podcast: now available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts & YouTube!

How does Geyser prevent fraud among users who start fundraising projects?

First of all, everyone registers with a Twitter account and carries over the reputation of the followers. If the person is followed by accounts with good reputation, then it’s easier to trust them.

Secondly, you can’t delete a Geyser account or campaign if you collected any amount of bitcoin in donations. The project stays there forever and will haunt you if you act in bad faith.

The Lightning Network is pretty good for privacy – especially for the sender. However, it’s far from perfect and there are plenty of improvements to be added. Some of them require further development, but there are still some small actions that you can take yourself to make a difference.

The first and most obvious choice is to gain network-level privacy for your node. You can accomplish this for free with Tor, but the speed becomes suboptimal for routing payments. So a quicker option is to get a VPN subscription with IVPN or Mullvad, two services which accept BTC payments and don’t require you to register with any data.

Also, if you happen to be using Lightning in a custodial way, consider looking into Fedi and Cashu. Both of them are Chaumian mint models that seek to completely anonymize transactions within a group of potentially known participants.

If my new magazine “Breaking FUD” onboards millions of Bitcoin skeptics and becomes the catalyst for the next bull market, I promise I won’t sell tickets to steak dinners.

See you this weekend at Pizza Day in Prague! 🍕

Breaking FUD is my masterpiece.

It contains 10 FUD-breaking articles which cover lessons I’ve learned about Bitcoin in the last 10 years + some bonuses.

3 different graphic designers worked together to turn my articles into vivid FUD-destroying frescos.

It’s launching next week at #PizzaDay (Paralelni Polis, Prague) 🍕

How should you approach home Bitcoin mining: is it about buying the most powerful ASIC machine, or should you make sure tou have a stable, plentiful and affordable electricity source first?

Should you take into account noise levels? Should you be worried about heat dissipation?

Listen to S13 E13 of the Bitcoin Takeover podcast to learn more about Bitcoin mining from Bifury creator Filip Pawczynsky ⛏️⚡️

Next time your friend says “Bitcoin mining is wasteful, change the code as Green Peace suggests”…

Send him a copy of the “Breaking FUD” magazine!!!

Article 7 is all about debunking the Bitcoin mining FUD in a reasonable and balanced way that will blow the minds of nocoiners 🤯

In S13 E16 of the Bitcoin Takeover podcast, Geyser CEO Michele Morucci (MetaMick) explains how and why bitcoiners should do fundraising for their projects.

Geyser takes into account reputation and enables everyone to collect the entire amount if they connect their own node.

In the absence of a node, Geyser will take 2% – a much lower percentage than Kickstarter, GoFundMe, and Patreon.

The articles from this year’s magazine are all published on this page.

I’ll also bring physical prints at conferences and maybe have them listen on a few shops.

But the digital content will remain free for everyone:

When your nocoiner friend utters some bad FUD about Bitcoin, what do you tell him to do?

Read some 200-page book? Check out a list of articles? Listen to a 2-hour podcast?

This is why I created the Breaking FUD magazine: 10 articles that take no longer than 10 minutes to read, which debunk the most popular misconceptions about Bitcoin.
