I don’t have the energy to post photos from today yet but these should give me the energy. Stopped by Voodoo Doughnut on the way home as a treat for smashing the trail.

Timberline Trail Backpacking: Day 2

Ramona Falls and the recently reopened Yocum Ridge section of the trail were highlights on day 2. This section is passable but there are still some serious parkour challenges to overcome. I ended up almost competing the trail and camping in Paradise Park. Awesome day. I even got to meet nostr:npub127gyfdcxt0z02qutad5u549s47vwnqtdpkxky603ac8qsjsdn66qrj6xnr, who was on a day hike!

nostr:npub18demqw842mta00c9rhycdkn834l3sryhr52heqlu908y0usqnj2q4faw9s Still lots of wildflowers. I don’t remember them last year, but it was a couple weeks later.

nostr:npub127gyfdcxt0z02qutad5u549s47vwnqtdpkxky603ac8qsjsdn66qrj6xnr Nope, I hope to camp before there tomorrow. Would prefer to be 6 to 8 miles from Timberline because it is pretty much all uphill after Ramona. Seemingly.

nostr:npub198faw3lljrx2ugrdd9kfs3dgpftq8z4jdp20qflcqt7j32t5h2xsr9n2cq Glad to share, i’m having a great time while taking photos and hiking. It was just over 20 miles and 4800 elevation gain so i’m exhausted. The trail north of cloud cap and especially coming up from Eliot Creek was dealing with a lot of down trees in the baking sun.

nostr:npub18demqw842mta00c9rhycdkn834l3sryhr52heqlu908y0usqnj2q4faw9s Awesome, great photo! Did you do the loop, and did you enjoy it?

Timberline Trail Backpacking: Day 1

Hiking the Timberline Trail this weekend, which circumnavigates Mount Hood. Currently hiking CCW from Timberline Lodge to Elk Cove. Knocking out about half of the mileage today to relax the next two days. I slipped in Newton Creek and soaked my right foot. Having a great time though, so good to be back out in the wilderness!

nostr:npub19enl8y9u032z64sxea7qtf9qumegjfh49pzpw4xsytrv0h46gv7qpqk643 Starting at Wallowa lake is on my list of possibilities. Did a day hike up there when I was younger and have always wanted to go back. Have a great trip!

nostr:npub127gyfdcxt0z02qutad5u549s47vwnqtdpkxky603ac8qsjsdn66qrj6xnr I’m just now realizing it was very risky. Thinking Eagle Cap wilderness or northern Cascades as backups now. I’ll get permits again next year and hope for the best.

nostr:npub1e5v3l34yn8ffjnlgs4f88d7fe7dl8gqnn3ml3kssqysqstfurqrsjzwnap Thank you! If not, there’s always next year. Not down for a sufferfest with photos of smoke.

Air quality not looking great for my Three Sisters Loop #Backpacking trip in three weeks. 🤞🏼 they put the #BedrockFire out.
