#Fiat money is a scam – those close to the printer have an advantage over anyone else.

#Stock market is a scam – those with insider information have an edge over everyone else.

#Trading is a scam – it's impossible to time the market, all traders are just gamblers. You can't predict when something will go up or down in value based on ridiculous imaginary lines on a graph.

Sell your fiat and all your "investments" and go full #bitcoin.

Snort / Iris for example.

What one person receives without putting in any work, another person has to work hard for without getting anything in return. The government cannot distribute anything to anyone unless they first take it away from someone else. Taxation is theft, and therefore immoral.

Why do i have to go into the settings of my #nostr client and clear the cache OR clear my browser cache – for my profile picture, nickname, or description to update?

This is poor UX. New #nostr users will be puzzled as to why their information is up-to-date in one client but not in another.

I understand it might not be efficient to fetch the latest data every time I open my (or someone else's) profile, but having an easy button (on the profile page) to refresh that data would be really helpful.

People often complain that #nostr is dead and they are posting to the void. You can't expect a nobody to get tons of likes and followers out from the start. You gotta put in the work, and time.

Try include tags in every note of yours, this helps random users discover your content. Also (this is a big one), focus on providing quality posts, instead of "gm" spam (i can't figure out why that shit is so common). Good notes will attract new followers, but if all you post is "good morning" non-sense, people might not be interested in following you.

Keep posting interesting stuff, avoid "gm" non sense, use tags, show #proofofwork – and watch your follower count slowly grow!

You didn't quite get what I was trying to say or I explained it poorly. It's probably the latter.

The problem isn't about the client knowing your location or language. Instead, it's about the other users knowing that information about you.

If you have your browser set to French and the #nostr client uses that information to automatically share your notes with other French users, this reveals your language and country to those users, even if your notes are in English.

It's a #privacy hole that could be exploited by an attacker to help deanonymize the country/language a specific user if they have this knowledge and are willing to put in the effort.

#Brave isn't a privacy browser despite what they claim. They just do privacy washing like all the other big tech companies. Even Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge claim they are secure and private. Don't trust, verify.

Brave uses Google as its default search engine, has built-in telemetry, built-in shitcoin that you can't even withdraw without going through a full KYC process on shady centralized shitcoin exchange. It installs a process that starts automatically when you turn on your computer. Has auto-updates turned on by default (i think you can't even disable them). The list of redflags on Brave is just as huge as Google Chrome.

Brave is bloated with unnecessary features that don't belong in a secure privacy browser. They make money through ads, that alone should tell you everything you need to know.

I'll make a more in-depth post about this later, but for now, you can either "trust me bro" when i say it's basically spyware, or do your own research.

If you truly want a #privacy browser, go with #Librewolf, #Mullvad, or #Tor.

Think twice before posting anything on #nostr.

Make sure to proofread for grammar errors because once it's posted, there's no way to edit or delete your notes.

Only set write permissions on relays that support NIP-09 (event deletion), but even then, it's not guaranteed they'll respect your request. Also, other random relays might have saved your notes without your knowledge or permission.

Anything you do on #nostr (posting notes, liking, zapping, DMs) should be considered permanent.

Thanks for replying. The server having this information isn't the problem. VPN might not do the trick, I did some tests and think it depends only on the language set in the browser.

I guess users who care about this particular issue should just avoid having the browser language set to anything else besides the default English.

For example, if I'm in France or have my browser set to French, when I post something, even if it's in english, it'll show up on the main feeds of French users, even if they don't follow me directly.

Users might not know my exact IP address, but based on this "feature" they can know my location/language because the client it self is leaked it.

Nostr clients are using your IP geolocation and/or checking your browser language – to automaticly show notes from other users who also share the same country as you.

This leaks information about the user location/country, and is major concern for privacy reasons.

Not sure if every client is doing this, #Snort #Iris are clearly doing it, especially noticeable when not logged in. When logged in there is no option to disable this behavoiour and seems to be enabled by default.

Life is short. Make sure you spend as much time as possible on the internet arguing with strangers about politics.

"We just need to choose the right master, then we'll be free!"

Stock market is the biggest scam ever. It's worse than holding fiat. Total corruption, insider trading and manipulation.

Every time some stock crashes, trading is halted, how is that even legal?

You can't trade pre/after hours, but suit guys somehow can, how is that fair?

Companys can issue more shares, diluting your holdings. Ridiculous.

Your broker can ban you at any time, for any reason, or block you from executing buy/sell orders "for your safety".

If you had Twitter shares you were forced to sell because of Elon Musk. You don't own shit, you think you do but you don't. It's all an illusion.

Sell all your #stocks and go 100% #bitcoin.

Why do people pay for #ChatGPT from shady OpenAI? Why are you guys giving all your personal information to the evil just to create an account in there? And why are you letting them monitor all your inputs?

You can run large language models (LLMs) on your computer for free, completely offline, using a tool called 'LM Studio'. This way, you don't have to rely on shady services like OpenAI that collect your data and invade your privacy. Just download the models you want and use them offline, any decent computer with GPU will do the job.

Just saw a comment from the official account of #GrapheneOS mentioning: "Pixels have hardware virtualization support and being able to use other operating systems in virtual machines including Windows 11 and desktop Linux distributions is a planned feature." 👀

Why do we need 2 devices – smartphone and a computer?

Smartphones should've replaced computers by now. They're powerful enough to handle most tasks, and they already have support for external monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

I shouldn't have to secure two devices, especially a desktop or a laptop that I can't carry around easily. Imagine a world where your smartphone is your only hardware device, and when you connect to any random external monitor with mouse and keyboard, it displays a desktop experience.

The only thing holding my dream back is software. #Android OS, while very good, it's not the same as #Windows or #Linux. Most apps aren't optimized for big screens. We need this.

What if I tell you that you can use the same #bitcoin seedphrase for all signatures of a multi-sig wallet? Just use a unique passphrase for each one of them, and voilà.

It's a good idea to to have multiple online identities. Using different identities for each platform (or specific category), can help keep things separated. You don't want your main persona to be "tainted" by something silly you said on a gaming forum from 8 years ago.
