Best tacos in Austin:
1. Granny’s for their Migas
2. Nixta is you want something Boujee and uber high quality
3. Cuantos for that CDMX vibe
#[1] have you considered adding more structured ways of providing these feedback loops? For example ability to rate nip05 verifications and nip58 badges?
That way people can organically assess the trustworthiness of these forms of verification real time
I think the only thing missing is a more structured way to crawl nostr space for “ratings” on other npubs. For example, you should be able to discern “npub xyz is 4.7 stars for xyz according to 5,000 nip05 users”
May be a good use of nostr.band I just suppose you’d need a more structured way to provide feedback
A comparable to nostr, when laid out in decentralized identity terms:
1. DID:Web:Cash App issues VC to me that I’m NickB according to them.
2. I present VC to Twitter that Cash App says I’m NickB.
3. A VC is then appended to my profile, next to a verification symbol, accessible to anyone who visits, stateing that Cash App identified me as NickB.
Anyone can publish un-censorable feedback on the quality of that verification by posting. And anyone can issue me other VCs which I can choose to present to prove anything else about myself (aka nip-58 in nostr land)
Scratch the above, I think I was actually experiencing a bug with Damus itself (changing my name should immediately break nip-05)
Man I’m still mind blown after really giving nostr a lot of thought last night. It feels like nostr is the ultimate MVP for decentralized trust. It has all the building blocks there. Just built out very simply.
I’m super keen to watch if trusted interactions can be fulfilled on here with just this, and no additional “governance”. I hope so. I think it’s possible, in a super organic way.
There may be ways to make the setup more efficient. But I think the fundamentals are all there
Nostr has solved decentralized trust establishment
Hunch is that we can build greater trust in nip-05 verifications through support of verifiable credentials.
(For example, despite my cash.app verification, I could change my profile info on here to look like anyone else and still retain that verification - which imo defeats the point of the verification to laypersons who don’t understand the nuances of how to interpret the verification)
Not sure how to do this. But seems it’d be possible (VCs are basically just signed json).
Benefit being a person, business, etc could prove they really are who they say they are more reliably, and in a self sovereign way
Incredible that technology like this exists. Grateful and excited!
