I solved an extremely difficult problem at work today, and my co-workers gave me a standing ovation.

(I found the solution on a blog post from 2008)

Re requirements:

1) Keep them fuzzy until the last responsible moment--literally just before implementation.

2) In a conversation with your user (ideally) or product person (better than nothing, probably), flush out just enough to be able to START building.

3) As you're working, get microfeedback from users ("Fred, could you come over here and have a look at this" or equivalent). Use those conversations to solidify enough additional requirements to build a bit more.

4) Repeat until the user is happy.

Did you watch, last night, as the JOY rained down upon us from the heavens? Oh! THE JOY! The thick, sweet, corn syrup JOY that spilled and splashed all over the stage. My God! It was so, so, sweet that the Dexcom on my arm caught fire and nearly took the arm off.

Well, maybe I should.

What do you do with unused stickers?

This is a huge step forward for India’s tech scene and a testament to our country’s innovation and engineering prowess.

@bhash and his team are set to redefine what motorcycling means with cutting-edge technology and sustainable solutions.

#OlaSankalp2024 I’m looking forward to seeing it unfold and witnessing how this will pave the way for a greener, more tech-savvy India.

So Intel, in 2024, is on track to generate about the same amount of revenue as it did in 2014?

I now understand why the stock is crashing.

A scenario not often discussed:

The Federal Reserve could buy Bitcoin instead of 10 year T-notes.

Bitcoin has a pretty solid yield on the 10 year chart.

The FED’s balance sheet could MASSIVELY increase from a move like this, more than is even comprehensible with simple bonds

I’m generally very happy with the direction twitch is going in. The new leadership is tightening things up and focusing on the right places.

Competing with tiktok is a mistake.

I built the first two versions of a “Twitch clip auto player” and we quickly concluded clips aren’t a good enough experience to compete with other platforms.

And that was BEFORE tiktok.

I keep hearing people talking bout not having vague requirements, but vague is at the heart of agility. You want things as vague as possible until the last responsible moment. The requirements NOT being vague is a huge red flag, and detailed up-front requirements lead to software that's riddled with bugs of the "nobody needs this" and "this isn't the right way to do it" variety.

So, I just had the Architect (building) of a project next door look me in the eyes and promise something, then do the exact opposite a few days later. They decline to talk to me, now, and the owner is supporting this behavior. Is lying as a way to get people off your back until you can stab them in it an acceptable business practice, nowadays?

The problem with waterfall-focused clients is not estimation, it's treating the estimate as a commitment. Feel free to estimate away, but if you commit to delivering exactly as estimated, you'll end up getting screwed. Your choice, I guess. Estimate/commitments are a way for a client to put 100% of the risk on your shoulders.

If you never become an advertiser on X: X can never sue you for “boycotting” advertising on the platform!

(The only sensible conclusion from this mad lawsuit and the former ‘naming and shaming’ of advertisers that cut back m spend)

Twitch’s mobile strategy is centered around helping the mobile team find new jobs, not around making a decent mobile app
