Now back in Chicago from North Dakota. Arrived 5am (still dark) in the bus terminal and couldn't get past the main exit as several weird characters kept bothering me (and they talked and sent signals among themselves). It was like zombie land. Really felt unsafe to go out and I was trapped in. Waited till a bit of sunlight, and by luck discovered a "secret" exit by the boarding gates. So I walked out (where a lady who had bothered me earlier found me- again!- and tried to distract me) and sprinted for two blocks and only allowed myself to go at a normal pace when I reached a 7 Eleven and saw people walking their dogs. Big relief.
Now safe, leisurely I walked towards Jackson Station taking photos with my phone. Autumn has officially started and Chicago looks very different now than when I first arrived. Downcast, moody and mysterious, the city is unveiling a different side of its face.
