Zechariah was an old man. He was a priest. An angel appeared to him and told him that his very very old wife was going to have a baby. Zechariah did not believe the angel. The angel made him mute for the full 9 months of his wife’s pregnancy. When God finally allowed him to speak, what did he say?

“Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and redeemed his people and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, (Luke 1:68–70)

Paul’s letter to the Galatians teaches us quite a bit about the person and work of the Holy Spirit:

We receive Him by faith.(3:2)

He initiates our new Spiritual life. (3:3)

The Father sends the Spirit into our hearts, giving us assurance that we are his children. (4:6)

With the Spirit’s help, We wait for our final glorification (5:5)

We are commanded to walk by Him.(5:16)

He gives us desires of holiness and purity. (5:17)

True believers are actively led by Him. (5:18)

He produces righteous fruit in our lives. (5:22)

We live by Him. (5:25)

We are commanded to keep in step with Him. (5:25)

If we please Him, our reward is everlasting life. (6:8)

But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and tried to discern what sort of greeting this might be. (Luke 1:29)
