And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!”
“Jesus has made the sublimer teaching of the Old Testament the common possession of the world, and founded a great Brotherhood, of which the God of Israel is the Father. He alone also has exhibited a life, in which absolutely no fault could be found; and promulgated a teaching, to which absolutely no exception can be taken.
Admittedly, He was the One perfect Man—the ideal of humanity; His doctrine the one absolute teaching. The world has known none other, none equal. . .The Man of Nazareth has, by universal consent, been the mightiest Factor in our world’s history: alike politically, socially, intellectually, and morally. If He be not the Messiah, He has at least thus far done the Messiah’s work. If He be not the Messiah, there has at least been none other, before or after Him. If He be not the Messiah, the world has not, and never can have, a Messiah.”
Alfred Edersheim
“Death is a great fact that all acknowledge but very few seem to ponder. Most men eat, and drink, and talk, and plan is if they were going to live up on earth forever. The true Christian must be on his guard against this spirit. He would live well should often think of his last day, and make it his company keeper. Against murmuring and discontent and envy in the state of poverty, and against pride and self-sufficiency and arrogance in the possession of wealth, there are a few better antidotes than the remembrance of death.”

Years ago I was reading a book by one of my favorite authors, jared Wilson, and he was describing his “every day” bible.
“The binding is coming apart.”
“Scribbled notes on nearly every page."
He says if you were “you were passing by my green ’97 Chevy Suburban in a parking lot and happened to see this worn-out book lying on the passenger seat, where it often rests, you’d hardly give it a second look.”
You’d definitely not be tempted to break into his car and steal it!”
but then he goes on:
"But imagine somebody took you aside one day as you were walking by, grabbed you by the arm, pointed in the direction of my vehicle, and said, “Do you see that beat-up Chevy Suburban over there? On the passenger seat rests THE SECRET OF THE UNIVERSE.”
Well, you might consider that for at least a second, wouldn’t you?
The secret of the universe! The thing, the message that every human being has been searching for since the creation of the world. The skeleton key that unlocks humanity itself. The answer to all human desire and longing and dissatisfaction and brokenness. The very voice of God! A word straight from outer space! And it is inside that book inside that vehicle.
Well, if you really believed that the secret of the universe was inside that sorry-looking book inside that sorry-looking vehicle, you might linger a little longer at the window, wouldn’t you? If you really believed this message, you might even smash the glass to get to that book."
In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. (John 1:4–9)
“a return to heathen midnight is an impossibility.”
“Christ is the wisdom of God.”
—The Apostle

Shorter catechism
1 Corinthians 3:21–23
“So let no one boast in men. For all things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future— all are yours, and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.”
Revelation 19:9: And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage SUPPER of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
“Those without Christ often abandon themselves to eating and drinking because sometimes it looks as if that’s all there is to do before we die. But those who love Christ cherish eating and drinking because it looks a little like what we will do after we die.” (David Gibson)
“in the created world, you can only truly enjoy what you do not worship.”
Someone needs to tell Peter diamandis to read Ecclesiastes
Ecclesiastes 9:2–3
It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath. This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all.
Moses was a Christian.
By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. (Hebrews 11:24–26)
Paul says that Jesus was raised from the dead 'in accordance with the scriptures.' He means that God told us he would do it. One way that he told us was through symbology:
Jesus appeared to a lot of people, in a lot of places,
after his resurrection.
