Friends, nostr doesn't fix this. Spend less time on internet devices as a means of connecting. Instead, use it as a coordination tool to cultivate in person friendships. How? Go to meetups, join a sports/hobby group. Make the effort. It's worth it.
Christian men, invite brothers to lunch on a weekday or invite families over after church. Exercise the grace of hospitality. Potlucks are great because everyone can contribute and help out. Christian fellowship is a means of grace, so avail yourselves to it.
nostr:npub17kf0qndv46r80dhcnupmqapkv3qu5gdsufu5k9vmujty99yukjtqftk4vf how do you balance (if that's even the right word) the expectation that bitcoin will increase in purchasing power over time and the call for Christians to give generously/sacrificially/joyfully?
I'm not talking about the temptation to secure our future materially and at the expense of generosity. Though that's definitely there.
I'm talking about the wisdom of delayed giving if we intend to give the same amount of sats and the recipient is operating in fiat.
GM. I applaud Coinbase for donating to open source. It's also hard not to view it as a diversion tactic to take the sting out of the criticism they've received for removing native bitcoin support in their pay service.
nostr:npub139nl9yxvwayl60fr97m3zrq9md6x5v0uup344mkyuyg6mzlusyxs4zkwf4 Wish you all had another way to deposit funds (not wire) that doesn't rely on Plaid.
Why is Gensler claiming that bitcoin is not decentralized?
So you're not in Nashville? GM
I hadn't thought about adding a fiat value column. Great idea. I'm going to implement that!
Saif, wish I knew earlier! Well, this might be an excuse to gift my copy and get a new one. Did you make edits to the manuscript? I bet you've done at least a second print run (maybe more) and I sent Lynn a couple of edits.
The number of digits generated by USD-to-sats conversion is an obstacle for my pre-teen kids to save and think in sats.
Example: Grandma sends $20 for Christmas and we convert it to sats. At current prices that's around $41,600. If a child has other savings, we're quickly dealing with millions of sats.
We keep a physical ledger to keep track of and custody their sats.
nostr:npub19jkuyl0wgrj8kccqzh2vnseeql9v98ptrx407ca9qjsrr4x5j9tsnxx0q6 how have you handled this? Any suggestions?
Happy Lord's day! Worship the King.
Sub 20 sats/vB, coming soon to a mempool near you?
Words matter. Probably a symptom of a generation that has been taught to eschew personal responsibility.
What!?! The Hardcover version now has a dust jacket.
what's going on with River?
Did you hand off the opensats account to Gigi? Also, couldn't you say the same about Nostr?
Christian bitcoiners, is your love of money (bitcoin) leading you to worship Mammon? It's a real temptation! Remember that you've been redeemed (your debt has been paid) by Jesus. Worship Christ and seek his kingdom first.
Consider why God has brought Bitcoin into your life. You can't take your sats with you, but you can use it for God's glory.
Yes, as a bitcoiner it's a struggle to balance hodling and investing in high Kingdom ROI projects. Saving is good, but we should be honest about the motivations that are driving our hodling behavior. You can't serve God and mammon. There is no second best.
Our citadel is God. Our hope is the resurrection life, a renewed world where Christ reigns forever.
I'm bullish on Christian bitcoiners. Praying for you all.
