As #nostr gets into hypergrowth cycle - 20 % per month - (greedy) corporations would want to get a piece of pie - just like AIX , HP-UX and Sun Solaris tried to tap into Unix market ..
It is not necessarily bad if you see

- Telestr
- Ditstr
They will offer their users dual option - continue using the legacy backend - or move to their #nostr Relays .. same feature but an option to see your content through likes of #Amethyst #Damus or #Gossip
Such moves will be driven by greed - Identify the users in legacy application - tie it to their free expression on #nostr side .. they will be forced to do it anyways - to stop their tech talent from fleeting .. a barrier - "best of both worlds" types of rationality - which is basically BS ..
Anyways - no one can stop history from repeating .. one thing is sure - out of this churn - finally something like #Linux would emerge - an operating system of internet ..
Specs are hard to foresee at this moment - but I have a feeling - this new system will be 90% #Rust and the communication protocol would be p2p - #mashtastic ???

Before you start note-ing on #nostr - know that there is no guarantee of deletion .. your content , as well as your account .. #nostr apps make best effort - but it is that - best efforts basis !
It is all fine - I guess - if you are using #nostr as an anonymous (psudonymous) channel .. but if you are attaching your real identity - be careful in what you post - you permanently own your record - digitally signed !
This is not an alarm because I think it is a good thing - makes you think twice before you make a note - free speech always comes with accountability 😜 ..
What about an account ? If content is not 100 % deleatable - then how account could be deleted ?
Btw - I am not a fan of deleting anything .. it is just to understand ..
Free speech is not just a set of tools - it is a culture - #nostr provides both ..
A suggestion - the default for notifications should be Global .. because for new users ( with not many followers ) , it is good to have sight on all notifications..
Veterans can always restrict their choice if they are flooded with too many notices ..

In #Amethyst, you can choose notifications from "All follows " or "global" ..
I had it set on "All follows " .. and I was comparing it to Primal where there is no such top level filter .. of course you can fine-tune notifications through more settings in Primal ..

That's right. I don't think it's necessary, but if you have to choose a form of government, monarchy is the way to go. why would we make a moot choice when you already done the thinking . Let's have free Private cities :-) - at least for argument sake ..
one question - what makes you think these free (private) cities wouldn't be captured by aliens ! There is literally five major wars going on as of date - to land grab !
btw - this free cities model has been tested - before Brits came to India , the Golden Sparrow was literally thousands of free cities .. they all lived in harmony (not peace ) - there were occasional disputes .. then East India Company happened and there goes the free "Riasat" model ..

As a dev, if you missed the boat on windows or cloud - here you have the most abstracted backend - physical infra + database + payments - and a ready set of testers - and real users ..
As a thinker - the wait fructified in freedom .. of speech as well that of thought !
