As long as you whitelisted your next npub you wouldn’t need your old nsec

No, you would white list in a non-forgeable way what your next npub will be so when your key is compromised you can move to it regardless of what the attacker does

The community points that Reddit had rolled out and with which many users were earning money as well as investing money into was abruptly cancelled. A huge sell off resulted and someone posted nostr as a possible alternative to those people affected. Interesting concept - thanks user rayfin on Reddit for introducing it to me
