Is It Dangerous to Sing About Just One Topic?
Recently, a user on NOSTR reached out to #Annonymal with a thoughtful warning: that it might be risky for a band to focus too heavily on a single subject.
The comment came in response to a post where we expressed how fulfilling it is to write lyrics about #Bitcoin—a topic that lies at the heart of Annonymal’s mission and musical output.
First and foremost, we want to thank the person for sharing this perspective. We genuinely appreciate the concern and take it seriously. There’s no offense taken—only respect for open dialogue.
That said, we’d like to use this moment to share some of our thoughts with those who follow us, both on this topic and a few others that connect with it.
A Deliberate Choice
When Annonymal was first conceived, this very question was front and center:
How would Bitcoiners—and people in general—respond to a band that writes music about Bitcoin? Even if we explored other themes as well, how would the Bitcoin-focused songs be received?
From the start, we understood there would be a range of reactions. Some people would be intrigued, others indifferent—or even opposed. That’s always been fine with us. We’ve never set out to please everyone, and both criticism and praise are welcome parts of the journey.
Every Band Has Its Lane
It’s important to note that nearly every musical group—especially in the metal scene—works within a thematic lane. That’s normal.
Some bands sing almost exclusively about hedonism, spirituality, fantasy, political resistance, romance, philosophy, or youthful rebellion. Whether they’re underground or world-famous, they often revolve around a core narrative or worldview.
We see no issue with that. In fact, thematic focus can sharpen the artistic vision and deepen the impact.
Now, why center our music around Bitcoin?
Because for us Bitcoin isn’t just a financial invention. It’s a movement. A philosophy. A revolutionary rethinking of trust, power, and value. When you look closely, Bitcoin touches so many different domain—economics, computer science, politics, sociology, mathematics, philosophy, and more.
This gives us a nearly infinite well of inspiration.

Everything we write fits within a broader story: the story of Bitcoin, its characters, its cultural ripple effects, and how it reshapes the way we view the world.
We believe that just as Bitcoin will be a major source of economic and philosophical insight in the years ahead, it will also inspire waves of creative and artistic expression.
And we’re here for it.
