Главной достопримечательностью парка и всего острова Занзибар, являются красные колобусы🐒 , эндемики архипелага Занзибар. Это значит, что нигде , кроме как на Занзибаре вы их не увидите.

Малая численность этого вида обезьян связана с длительным периодом развития детенышей и малочисленным потомством. Колобусы Кирка не питаются сочными сладкими африканскими плодами — их организм не способен усваивать сахара. Они предпочитают незрелые плоды, зеленые побеги, семена или листья🌱 Туристам кормить колобусов не разрешают, но можно фотографировать — обезьяны охотно позируют📸

Кроме колобусов в Джозани водится маленький примат галаго, ведущий преимущественно ночной образ жизни, и белогорлая мартышка Сайкса, которую также называют голубой.

Второй интересный экспонат острова - это мангровые заросли🌿, которые доходят до самого побережья. Уникальность здешних мангровых деревьев состоит в том, что они способны пить морскую воду.

Многие мангровые леса можно узнать по густому переплетению опорных корней, из-за которых кажется, что деревья стоят на сваях над водой. Этот клубок корней позволяет деревьям справляться с ежедневными приливами и отливами, а это означает, что большинство мангровых зарослей затапливаются как минимум два раза в день. Корни также замедляют движение приливных вод, в результате чего отложения оседают из воды и образуют илистое дно.

Мангровые леса стабилизируют береговую линию, уменьшая эрозию от штормовых нагонов, течений, волн и приливов, а их сложная корневая система мангровых зарослей также делает эти леса привлекательными для рыб 🐟и других организмов, ищущих пищу и убежище от хищников.

Лес Джозани 🌲отличает большое биологическое разнообразие. Одних только птиц в нем обитает почти 170 видов. Среди них есть эндемичные виды — мангровый зимородок и африканский тетеревятник. В парке обитают более 50 видов тропических бабочек🦋. В зарослях тропического леса можно встретить сухопутного краба, редкие виды ящериц, варанов и хамелеонов🦎 Здесь насчитывается около 300 видов растений, среди которых отмечены редкие и исчезающие виды. В лесу растут гигантские папоротники, мощные лианы оплетают вековые деревья. Та часть заповедника, где находятся мангровые заросли служит прибежищем для рубиновых крабов и множества видов тропических рыб 🐠
