So it’s 2025 and I am defragging my drives.
Why? Well, I’m on btrfs and because of CoW and the nature of the files I store there, everything tends towards chaos over time.
This wouldn’t be an issue with SSDs, but I cannot afford replacing my NAS drives with those just yet.
Funny how Americans call it physics, but maths is too far of an ask.
I'm very proud of coming up with this meme. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5f6622e120136f7415b9476e0b06fea804dd8bd22f6a072d63336ac775f494d0/3a7a4d9306ba33f546dc23707f91f7fc93880dc251152a34b8480cda818bafc1.webp
You use gpt O3
I use gcc -O3
We are not the same
Tried GPT-OSS locally on my RTX 4080 after work today.
Tool calling: rough. Lots of errors and loops.
Reasoning in chat mode: pretty solid. Even wrote working C code (with some hand-holding).
Mixed results, but interesting to see what runs locally now.
I was watching the Lex Fridman and DHH podcast and was surprised that neither knew of any other language that can do `5.times` like Ruby.
Smalltalk is 20 years older and can do something very similar.
Kotlin and Swift can do it exactly like Ruby thanks to extension functions.
Yeah, sleep is great, but have you ever garbage collected 56 gigs in Nix? https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5f6622e120136f7415b9476e0b06fea804dd8bd22f6a072d63336ac775f494d0/eb957f8b91964e6795b84255439da2422421f0550d5590887ae6710c5c1fb3e4.webp
So I found some shsh2 blobs I saved around seven years ago for my iPhone 7+ and using Turdus Merula I fully downgraded to iOS 12.1.4 and also jailbroke the phone.
Memories are flooding me. https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5f6622e120136f7415b9476e0b06fea804dd8bd22f6a072d63336ac775f494d0/d3e4caf892c5589ebede642681452c9e0c4083f55905b9588e75ce1988a8ede9.webp
I asked 15 different LLMs from the cheapest to the most expensive one, at the same time, to guess a number between 1 and 50. 14/15 picked 27, and Opus picked 23... https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5f6622e120136f7415b9476e0b06fea804dd8bd22f6a072d63336ac775f494d0/67a499a3d9ae153289c8888dfe550c38734b376ba2f639c0f2a8e206928e89b5.webp
Just shipped a new post on running Docker containers with secrets on NixOS! 🐳
Finally moved my homelab from #Proxmox to pure #Nix using Agenix for secret management. Everything's declarative, everything's public on GitHub, and the tokens stay encrypted.
Tried the prompt in "The Illusion of Thinking" in #o3pro. Only added "no tool use and return the whole result array"
The result is 480 moves long, not 1023 as it says(and should be). It's also wrong along the way
Don't listen to yt-ers saying the paper is false
Try it yourself! https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5f6622e120136f7415b9476e0b06fea804dd8bd22f6a072d63336ac775f494d0/e766d27bcb8b51200eb7d1f8f07e91bbe3d1920cb0cf47887093c66fb4ce2287.webp https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/5f6622e120136f7415b9476e0b06fea804dd8bd22f6a072d63336ac775f494d0/db7a62f6cf7ce1de49817b4a0ccaffb22c469d3619c8124c0fb111d1a81ed889.webp
