Today is the day I play with colors. In a Python script, that is. In a command line. Tinkered with a script to get to version 2 with some output text emphasized (bolded, in color, etc). It was fun :) Silly and simple, but fun!

(Script: https://gist.github.com/verityj/96c846cba346c1532894c9d52972dfa5, blog post about it: https://verityj.github.io/2023/06/05/t-mobile.html)

As usual, this adventure of mine started with an annoyance. And I ended up learning a bit of Python scripthing and then how to set up a github repository and publish a post in blog format.

See, I have T-Mobile home internet and it has hidden settings. Smart people figured out all the steps to read and edit the hidden WiFi settings on a T-Mobile gateway. I set out to simplify and dumb it down to one script with the options to disable/enable the WiFi radios (and to be set up to do any other changes). Personally, I usually keep WiFi disabled and use ethernet, but there are situations where WiFi is temporarily convenient. I wanted that switch reachable, quick, and not requiring me to check extensive notes because inevitably I would forget the steps.

So I wrote about it as simply as I possibly could. Because I know what it's like to be overwhelmed initially and how fun it is to understand something by learning to control it.

And that became my very first ever post, sharing with the world. If it ever helps one person, that's brilliant. If someone points out a mistake, that's fantastic, that's my growth. If nobody ever reads it, that's great, my goal is reached: I pushed myself to do something way outside my comfort zone.

I love your idea of rewarding top zappers for generosity, sharing, support. But have you thought about how to avoid the problem of "the richest get to be the loudest"?

I can't claim to have answers, but how about a # of sats threshold that qualifies as a "top reply" and then no upper limit in that category but they're not sorted by sats zapped? The rest go below the "top". Perhaps each user can specify what they consider that # should be for their account. (For nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle it may have to be a lot, for me - like 10 lol).

I would say 'Lithuanian breads' but few also understand 😆 (no yeast)

Are you still having the issue? I hope trying again later worked?

I used Brave and it was fine. Then I switched to Orion. Also fine (but couldn’t post for a while).

nostr:npub1earna05hx6ax38r33h3atmecjzdu547m8suw87w70aw6mlyga4hsqcja5j Which US states are you going to stop operating in? I think some changes are coming later this month but I don't remember the app notification I received.

Hmm I know there's https://habla.news and longform nostr notes but I'm not sure how to implement any nostr features to an actual formatted blog. Food for thought as I start exploring nostr.

Haha that's my Friday brain. Thank for the humor :)

And I have asked and answered simplier questions than that, for sure.

https://verityj.github.io Time to start a little blog site :)

Thanks for the update. I am looking through 2.2.2 but don’t see where I would customize my lightning address. It says I have to complete all these steps first that will take forever. Including sending btc on chain? I wasn’t planning on doing that… :(

Thanks! And I tried zapping you back :) Learning myself how to do that with ###[4]
