Yes, it is a blue hubbard squash and can be used however you would use a pumpkin or butternut squash. So, bread , pies, muffins, soups, casseroles, etc.
I harvested these winter squash today. The fine line between leaving them on the vine long enough to mature, but not so long that they rot makes me antsy.

It is a blue hubbard. This one is just under 14 pounds, but they can get up to 40 pounds! I have a couple more on the vine that are bigger and I am hoping they make it through the heat. I have never been able to grow one before, so I am very excited! They are supposed to be sweeter than pumpkin.
Beautiful pictures! I don't know how you are living with that much heat. We have had a week of extreme heat and it is horrible. Luckily, ours ends this weekend and we go back to 80's.
