“The Kingdom of Hollowgold and the Beast of Ironhorn”
In the sprawling Kingdom of Hollowgold, a farmer toiled endlessly in his fields. Year after year, he harvested crops under the watchful eye of the Crown. Yet, no matter how hard he worked, it always felt like his granaries emptied faster than they filled.
The Crown’s scribes churned out new decrees, and Hollowgold’s treasuries issued coins that seemed to lose weight with every passing season. “Work harder,” they told him. “Grow more. Sacrifice today for a better tomorrow.”
But no matter how much he sacrificed, tomorrow always arrived poorer.
One day, in frustration, the farmer sought wisdom from a wandering stranger. The stranger laughed and said, “You labor in the shadow of the Hollowgold Forge. Every coin they mint takes a piece of your soul with it.”
Determined to find a better way, the farmer left the Kingdom. He journeyed across valleys and mountains until he came to a strange hill crowned with an immense beast of gleaming iron and unyielding strength. Its horns stretched toward the sky, unbroken by time or force.
“I am Ironhorn,” said the beast, its voice resonating like thunder. “I need no scribes, no forges, no decrees. Those who join me keep what they earn, for no hand but yours can touch it.”
The farmer hesitated. “But what of the Crown? They’ll never let me walk away.”
Ironhorn snorted, its breath like a gust of wind, scattering leaves. “The Crown is powerful, but it cannot grind my horns. Choose me, and no kingdom will ever claim what is rightfully yours.”
With a trembling hand, the farmer offered his last Hollowgold coins to Ironhorn. In return, the beast taught him the ways of strength, patience, and independence.
Seasons passed. The farmer’s granaries swelled, his family thrived, and his work carried meaning again. Meanwhile, in Hollowgold, the Crown’s decrees turned to ash as their coins were abandoned, piling up in the gutters like dust.
When the people of Hollowgold finally realized the truth, they looked to the farmer, whose barns now stood as tall as castles. “How did you escape?” they cried.
The farmer smiled and replied, “I stopped feeding the forge and found something stronger.”
