“Arcana” was commissioned by Art in Public Spaces through ArtsWA, the Washington State Arts Commission, for the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building at the University of Washington in Seattle.
This piece features vibrant glass elements interacting with metal silhouettes to create a dynamic, stage-like environment. Inspired by Oskar Schlemmer’s Triadic Ballet from the Bauhaus era, Arcana combines geometry with historical engineering tools, creating a sense of belonging and inspiration among students.
The installation is designed to engage viewers from different perspectives, encouraging interaction with the space while reinforcing a connection between engineering and artistic expression.

Bitcoin and Don Quixote: The Visionaries and the Pragmatists
If Don Quixote represents the bold, relentless vision of a world that does not yet exist, then Bitcoiners are the Quixotes of our time. They move ahead of society, seeing a paradigm shift long before others can grasp it. They are dismissed as lunatics, as hopeless idealists fighting windmills, but what they are actually doing is carving out a path that will one day be recognized as inevitable.
Sancho Panza, on the other hand, represents the pragmatists—the majority of society that hesitates before taking the leap. They are not necessarily against the vision; they simply require more proof, more stability before committing. Sancho follows Don Quixote not because he fully understands his master's madness but because, deep down, he senses that there is something real in what Don Quixote sees. Likewise, many people today hesitate to adopt Bitcoin, waiting for signs that the ground is steady before taking a step forward.
This is how history always unfolds. First, there are the trailblazers—those who walk ahead without guarantees, guided only by conviction and a sense of destiny. Then, there are the others—those who eventually follow, not out of opposition, but because they needed time. Neither path is better than the other; they are simply different roles in the process of evolution.
The world needs both—the Quixotes who charge ahead, unafraid of ridicule, and the Sanchos who keep them grounded, question them, and ultimately, once convinced, help bring their vision to the rest of society. This is how change happens.
As Cervantes reminds us:
“Too much sanity may be madness—and maddest of all: to see life as it is, and not as it should be.”
Bitcoiners, like Don Quixote, see life as it should be. And history tells us that what is seen as madness today is often recognized as genius tomorrow.

Much of what we’ve accepted as “truth” has been carefully constructed, written in ways that discourage scrutiny. Borges, for instance, masterfully illustrated this in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius.
Jorge Luis Borges, one of the most brilliant literary minds of the 20th century, masterfully explored the nature of reality, language, and ideology in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, a short story first published in Ficciones (1940). The story presents a fictional world—Tlön—created by a secret society with the goal of reshaping human perception through fabricated knowledge. What begins as an obscure intellectual curiosity slowly infiltrates human thought, replacing reality with a meticulously constructed but entirely fictional world.
Borges anticipated the mechanisms of mass manipulation and ideological conditioning, showing how civilizations adopt false realities as truth when presented with a coherent, authoritative narrative.
The story is not just a literary experiment—it is a warning. It eerily mirrors our time, where digital information, ideological agendas, and institutional narratives hold the power to overwrite reality itself.
Borges understood that whoever controls perception controls reality. In Tlön, reality is not merely rewritten—it is erased, replaced by a world where subjective belief supersedes material existence. As Borges famously concludes, “The world will be Tlön”, signaling that the real danger is not in the existence of false narratives, but in our willingness to accept them as truth.
We see this happening today. Ideologies have become so powerful that they distort perception, making people blind to what is in front of them. When narratives replace truth, questioning becomes an act of defiance.
In this world, reality is subjective, logic is rewritten, and over time, fabricated ideas infiltrate society until Tlön becomes the only recognized truth.
Are you still holding on to beliefs you once thought were absolute truths? Have you questioned them? In today’s world of extreme polarization, where discussions on gender, identity, and natural law are becoming battlegrounds, these questions matter more than ever. I recently read a post by an astrologer who, like many in that field, subscribes to a highly ideological worldview. It's interesting to me how so many astrologers lean toward the "woke" perspective, clinging to belief systems that give them a sense of certainty.
But I remind myself—and you, the reader—that whatever I write is my own evolving perspective. It is not absolute. My views shift as I continue to question.

Reality, as we perceive it, is being rewritten. We are living through an era where the very foundation of what we believe is being dismantled. If money—the core structure of our civilization—has been an illusion, manipulated for control, then what else have we been conditioned to believe? From education to politics to social movements, corruption seeps into every corner. When something is tainted, you don’t ignore it—you put on gloves and start cleaning.
And that’s where we are now. Cleaning up the wreckage of ideology, stripping away the illusions, and reclaiming our right to think freely.
Because if we don’t, the world won’t just be Tlön.

What excites me most about the projects I work on is receiving not just the samples, but also seeing the process of the images being produced and finalized. For me, this is the most thrilling moment because the journey—from receiving a commission to conducting research, creating samples, finding the right fabricator, tweaking the images, and refining every detail—takes so much time and effort.
Right now, I’m beginning to receive some of the finalized components. There are still steps ahead, like firing the images in the kiln, shipping them, and finally installing them, but the process is such a beautiful experience. It’s been two years since I began this commission, and it truly feels like giving birth to something meaningful.
This work will be permanently installed at the University of Washington in a building dedicated to interdisciplinary engineering. I’m so excited about it!
