BREAKING - I like round numbers.
The power’s back on, the roads have reopened and #bitcoin’s at $50K.

No rush. It’s Sunday.
Imagine the opportunities that would open up if all the businesses in a town accepted #bitcoin alongside the $.
Imagine the international attention it would draw and the economic activity it would generate.

“The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that’s required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted to not debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust.”
~ Satoshi Nakamoto

This is my 10th year in #bitcoin .
My first 6 years I was thinking I was buying BTC so that its ‘price’ would go up and I’d make more dollars.
But by year 7 I was beginning to understand the dollar is a failing currency and bitcoin is sound money.
Today I don’t ’buy’ BTC, I exchange dollars for BTC as it’s a better form of money. It’s my long-term savings. BTC is a store of value and sound financial foundation available for everyone.
Yet again an older friend/neighbor, in her 70s, still working expressed to me how she didn’t think she’d ever be able to retire. I tried biting my tongue but it just came out…” #bitcoin , do you know about bitcoin? It’s an alternative form of money that holds value over time.”
Can anyone provide me a comprehensive list of countries and communities where Bitcoin is used? I have these so far:
El Salvador
Madeira
Ekasi S. Africa
Lugana Switzerland
…?
The poster is excellent. Looking forward to seeing this.
The big California storm was Sunday. The power went out. I only ran essentials like fridge and lights on battery back up. My full node went down as did the internet.
Power came back tonight.
Some folks were incredibly annoyed about the 3 days without electricity but for me this ‘pause’ in service increased my appreciation of how energy improves people’s lives.
Sometimes you’ve got to go without to appreciate what you have.
Bitcoin is an alternative financial system. In many ways it is the inverse of the dollar system.
The dollar system is backed by debt, central bank control and monetary expansion.
The Bitcoin system is backed by scarcity, self-sovereignty and value creation.
Bitcoin is easy to dismiss and takes time to understand.
It’s a bit of a conundrum - you want to orange pill someone and you only have their attention for a few minutes. Your choices are on-chain with fees and 10 minute block times, self-custodial Lightning that may fail or custodial Lightning with an awkward explanation about custody.
Which one would you choose?
By the edge of the creek with wet feet and an empty belly, he looked down at the pan and into the clear water it held. There amongst silt and pebbles were the tiny flecks of gold he’d traveled so far to find. This, he realized, was his proof of work.

“…and finally tonight, the Federal Reserve Bank has completed winding down operations and will officially close at 11:59 pm. Auctioning of desks and printing presses will be held next Monday. A Fed spokesman said the economy is now in good hands with #bitcoin.”
Bitcoin is not a cryptocurrency (the word cryptocurrency is not in the white paper.) Pass it on.
Headline ‘U.S. expands air strikes in Middle East.’
Excellent. That’s really going to help.
Money is the operating system of society. When the OS is corrupted none of the apps function correctly.
Our $-based system is manipulated by central bankers. The most obvious affect of this is inflation.
#Bitcoin is money enforced by code and out of the reach of mere mortals.
Looks like more rain again tonight. Good!
