Obama must have drawn the short straw to have to sit next to Trump

I decided to not go out for any exercise this morning. With 29 degree temp (wind chill at 16.7) and winds blowing out of the north over 25mph (gusts over 30), I figured I would stay in with the dog and keep warm.

Best Email Client on Android?!

Bro, you gotta check out FairEmail. Everybody knows about Radical-Left Mozilla's Thunderbird, now that they've taken over K-9. But,

What you didn't know is that FairEmail has the best security features, privacy perks, and is completely FOSS. Here's some examples of FairEmail's features:

With OTHER email clients such Thunderbird, when you recieve stuff, you are clueless if you're getting legit content from the owner of that domain. Or are you getting spoofed fake bullshit from any assclown trying to scam you??

But with FairEmail, it automatically checks spf/dkim/dmarc/tls of your precious inbox, so you can immediately evaluate the legitmacy and avoid scams. But wait it gets better,

With other clients, email marketers will include javascript to find out if it was read, or your IP address, & info about you.

But with FairEmail, you're a beast king that controls exactly what content gets through filters. You can choose to not download images and view emails in plaintext, as opposed to with css that's got bullshit spyware and clutters your inbox with their retarded designs.

But do you want images? No problem, this can even attempt to recognize and disable tracking images.

-Supports PGP

-Confirm opening links to prevent tracking and phishing

-Warning if messages could not be authenticated

& Much more.

Ditch Mozilla, who has shifted to focus on AI. So they can manipulate and control society, to shove Woke propaganda down your throat.

Ditch World Economic Forum Protonmail, who hands over thousands of emails to law enforcement. And doesn't even fight the court cases to save money!

And instead, consider the open source and reliable FairEmail Client:

https://email.faircode.eu/

And you know what goes great with that? An open source Mailu server with Simplified Privacy:

I switched from K-9 to FairEmail a few months ago. K-9 was kludgy on encrypting/decrypting mail. FairEmail works flawlessly. I also like the UI and it works great updating. I still have to deal with Microsoft O365 for work, and it works well with it.

Been messing with a new radio. This one is very cool. After a firmware upgrade, the radio has built in KISS protocol (KISS stands for Keep It Simple Stupid). Since the radio has bluetooth capability, this means that you can connect packet radio apps (like Winlink, APRS, etc) from your phone, tablet, laptop, desktop systems and have full on packet radio capabilities without needing any special TNC hardware. Very, very, very cool. Handy for both playing around as well as emergency packet radio communications. I went ahead and checked in with the ANSRVR for #aprsthursday, which then showed my CQ in their database. This is a very handy way to communicate to the internet without having the internet yourself.

Hans Grubber has only one more floor to fall, on the Nakatomi Advent Calendar, before Christmas. He is certainly having a Die Hard Christmas.

Paddled out around 6:30am this morning for a 4 mile circuit. It was very foggy. About 2 miles out, you cant see the land. I wandered around semi-lost until I found good ol' buoy R8. It was about where it normally is. Buoys in the sound tend to wander during storms. Luckily I had a compass on my rescue whistle as well as using my sports watch tracking. I couldn't see land until I was bout 50 feet from shore.

Pretty morning

For those interested, we had 1.38" of rain yesterday, according to the NWS gauge we monitor out back. Our electronic weather station only showed 1.03", but it is over 30 feet in the air and the wind was blowing almost sideways, so probably kept blowing rain away from falling into the rain catch.

Surf not much today so I figured I would ruck around the lighthouse to see the progress. Lots of activity even early this morning (just before 6am)

Wind out of the SW around 9mph. Much warmer than it has been. Surf almost flat and very low tide. This was my first time rucking since I took time off last week because I was sick for the first time in over a decade. Pleasant fall like beach day.

We put up our Nakatomi Plaza (Die Hard) advent calendar yesterday. Every day, as we approach Christmas, Hans Gruber plunges another floor towards the ground. Yippee Kay Yay #@%#$$%$

Testing on Nostr

The skipper of this shrimp boat was very nice in positioning his boat for a photo.

The Florida Ham Radio Repeater System is going to be streaming for as long as the internet and their repeater system is running during hurricane Milton. The good thing is that we can listen in without effecting the system (i.e. we dont want to interfere with any emergency communications, but we can listen to the communication traffic). I have been listening to it for the last few minutes. Not much going on, but a few stations are checking in, in preparation for the storm.

For those interested in Ham Radio, I would recommend getting your license since you can't legally transmit without a license. There are multiple hams on the island and testing can be arranged if enough are interested.

I recently bought a new inexpensive ham radio to see how it does against my more expensive radios. I was pleasantly surprised. I have other radios of the same brand (Baofeng) from years ago. They worked but were very basic. Baofeng has really upped their game. For $28, you get a decent radio that does anything a beginner would need (connect to repeaters) The good about this is that it has a big color screen, 2 channels so you can monitor 2 frequencies at the same time, easy to program, easily hit the local repeaters, good battery life, powerful enough for most uses, charges either with a cradle or by USB. The main bad thing is that the screen is hard to read in bright sunlight. But at $28, I can live with it. There is also an option to buy the radio with an extra battery for $40, and an option to buy a 3-pack for $80.

If you are interested in ham radio (especially since we are in a storm prone area), let me know. If you are local and you get one of these, I can help you with programming it.

But again, if you want to transmit legally, you need a ham radio license. We just need to coordinate to see about getting the testing team together to make it happen.

Another 1.15" of rain since last reading yesterday morning. My digital weather station is telling me that this "event" has accumulated just under 6".

Doesn't look like the coastal low is going to be named. That doesn't mean that there wont be rain and wind. I would prepare for overwash in the usual places (already happening in some)
