So there’s a guy who has been looking for work in the tech sector all year long. Good guy, decent dev. He’s a US citizen

He has applied to hundreds of jobs through company websites and LinkedIn over the last year. Not a single response. Not one. Ghosted on almost all of them

I found a job in his area that was limited to US citizens for a FAANG company. Some security issue. He applied. Phone interview last week. First in person interview this week

US citizens are not being considered for most tech jobs right now due to citizenship discrimination

This guy isn’t even white. He’s Dominican

To be honest I did not see it that way

Elons legitimately did improve things in a lot of ways, I remember people getting banned before he came for the most obvious political reasons

And then it all stopped and almost all accounts were reinstated

But then he took so much flack on Christmas Eve over the H1B issue that he shut it all down two days later

And then he went even further. Now it’s worse than before. He’s just going to greater lengths to hide it

So you’re telling me that while Elon is bragging about bringing payments to x, nostr has had it for awhile?

When Elon took away blue checks AND only allowed blue checks to comment on his feed (and others feeds). I know of two major accounts (1M+) in this situation

But the tldr: I am a US tech worker and I found a thread on x on nov 26th that showed me how the entire industry has been abusing the H1B visa and PERM green card (as well as others) very badly for the last two years. So I began to comment on the subject, and then it went viral with Christmas Eve with Laura Loomer’s comment about Sriram Krishnan’s appointment, with Elon and Sacks playing defense until they tapped out on the 26th and found a backdoor way to censor the backlash

For the record, I’m not a big fan of Loomer, and yes she has said and done some terrible things, but censorship is always wrong and I could see the entire goal was to rescue Elon from some very unpopular stances

So I logged off x and I’m here
