Two girls decide to switch their notebooks, maybe they reciprocally thought the other's work was better than their own, doesn't matter to me as long as it's free market honestly.

The teacher notices, and decides to make an example out of them: they are made to stand in front of the class, and denounce themselves for what they had done (your average statist victimless crime, nothing out of the ordinary right?)

The girls start crying.

Yours truly was appalled by this story while he was listening to his son telling it.

Questa storia è di un po' di tempo fa, me ne sono appena ricordato.

Compito in classe, i bambini dovevano scrivere qualcosa riguardo a qualcosa... o qualcosa del genere. Per dei motivi. Motivi legati all'apprendimento ovviamente! Apprendimento di tipo forzoso.

Due bambine decidono di scambiarsi i quaderni, forse ciascuna pensava che il lavoro che aveva fatto l'altra fosse migliore del proprio, secondo me non è importante purché si sia trattato di libero mercato.

La maestra se ne accorge, e decide di "colpirne uno per educarne cento": le bambine vengono fatte mettere in piedi davanti a tutta la classe, per dire a tutti quello che avevano fatto (il classico crimine statalista senza vittime, nulla di strano no?)

Le bambine iniziano a piangere.

Il qui presente inorridiva mentre ascoltava suo figlio raccontare questa storia.

A proposito, oggi "la maestra si è arrabbiata" con lui perché usava un tono di voce troppo basso, e non aveva saputo raccontare in modo soddisfacente quello che aveva appena letto.

There is then this added perk, that consists of finding a free parking spot right in front of the gate after everyone who arrived on time, has gone away.

My son is not of the same opinion, as he would rather arrive on time, even better before the bell rings. He told me his teacher is annoyed when someone arrives late, and openly vents that she doesn't stand when someone is not on time. He also said that when this teacher is really, really annoyed, she will call other teachers over, so all of them can scorn the kids at the same time for not having behaved.

So I decided to give him a sane perspective: that he has nothing to worry or be scared about, because teachers are ordinary people, or better yet, teachers can very well be below ordinary people, as they are being paid with money that is extorted to real workers, by a criminal venture called "state", and their work is to crush once and for all the innate pleasure of learning that children have since birth.

If anything, by arriving as late as possible, he is doing all he can to annoy the teacher, and with some luck, ruin her day. So he should actually hope that his teacher gets angry, because then his mission would be accomplished.

Quando mi occupo di accompagnare mio figlio a scuola, provvedo di arrivare il più tardi possibile, primo perché mi piace dormire fin quando ho voglia di farlo (e la stessa cosa vorrei fosse vera per lui), e poi perché voglio dimostrare di avere il meno rispetto possibile per la malsana istituzione della scuola pubblica. C'è un beneficio aggiuntivo, e cioè quello di trovare posto direttamente davanti al cancello di ingresso, dopo che tutti gli altri hanno fatto il loro dovere e sono già andati via.

Mio figlio non è dello stesso parere, e preferirebbe arrivare in tempo, meglio ancora un po' prima della campanella. Mi ha raccontato che la sua maestra è irritata quando qualcuno arriva tardi. MI ha anche detto che quando la sua maestra è proprio tanto irritata, chiama in classe anche altre maestre, in modo che tutte assieme possano aggredire verbalmente i bambini ancora meglio.

Allora ho decido di dargli una sana prospettiva su tutta la vicenda: non deve avere nulla di cui preoccuparsi o essere spaventato, perché le maestre sono persone normali, anzi, a volte anche meno che persone normali, siccome sono pagate con soldi estorti ai veri lavoratori, da un ente criminale chiamato "stato", e il loro lavoro consiste nel distruggere in modo definitivo qualunque rimasuglio dell'innato piacere di imparare cose nuove che caratterizza i bambini sin dalla nascita.

Se proprio, arrivando il più tardi possibile, sta facendo la sua parte per infastidire la maestra, e, con un po' di fortuna, rovinarle la giornata. Per questo dovrebbe sperare che la maestra si arrabbi, perché in quel caso la sua missione potrebbe dirsi compiuta.

During a trip back from school, my son told me (as he usually does, to be honest) that teachers got angry that day. Some active listening later, turns out one of them verbally aggressed a kid who was silently playing with pieces of paper on his desk.

Back in my time I remember being scolded because I was chit-chatting with someone else, and that could indeed constitute a source of distraction for others.

But silently playing by yourself on your desk? What kind of crime is that?

It's like saying, on the teacher's part, "How dare you not like what I am telling you?! You must be paying attention, and you must refrain from doing anything else than aptly listening to what I am saying! I am absolutely not responsible for making my lectures captivating for you pupils, and you all need to feel interested regardless of your personal inclination!"

Durante un tragitto di ritorno da scuola, mio figlio mi ha raccontato (come quasi sempre fa, a dire il vero) che quel giorno le maestre si erano arrabbiate. Dopo un po' di ascolto attivo, vien fuori che una di loro aveva aggredito verbalmente un bambino che stava giocando in silenzio sul suo banco con dei pezzi di carta.

A suo tempo, mi ricordo di essere stato più volte ripreso perché chiacchieravo, e quello era fonte di distrazione per gli altri.

Ma giocare in silenzio sul proprio banco? Che tipo di crimine è?

Sarebbe come se la maestra avesse detto, "Come ti permetti di non apprezzare quello che ti sto dicendo?! Devi prestare attenzione, e devi evitare di fare qualunque altra cosa che non sia ascoltare attentamente quello che dico! Io non ho alcuna responsabilità di rendere piacevoli le mie lezioni per voi studenti, e voi tutti dovete essere concentrati su di me indipendentemente dai vostri interessi personali!"
