The National Nuclear Safety Administration was struggling Friday to rehire some of the nation’s top nuclear specialists after they were fired by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency in an apparent massive mistake, according to reports that triggered national security fears.

The workers were fired overnight because “no one had taken the time to understand what they actually do”

Musk’s wholesale slashing of the federal workforce has been plagued by chaos. He has a young crew of techies who have little work experience and are overwhelmed by the challenges to understand the wide range of tasks performed by employees in many different and complex federal agencies in a matter of days. One of Musk’s crew is a high school grad and college drop out who was fired from an internship after leaking sensitive information to company rival.

Workers with high-level security clearance that requires 18 months to obtain, report they were advised they were being fired, then received a second message telling them that their jobs were safe. That was followed by a third message telling them that they were being fired. Their email access was then blocked, making getting in contact to rehire them difficult.

It is feared many will not return to work after being treated so badly fired indiscriminately “by clueless kids”.

Nothing beats marrying a person who speaks a different language. That'll teach you another language far quicker than AI. You learn new words and phrases faster when you are emotionally connected to those words, and a wife/husband (or friend or relative) gets you more emotionally attached than a robot or a machine. Visiting the country is also more emotive than visiting an AI machine.

AI is overrated in my opinion. I love learning Russian, and I'd say that watching Russian TV or reading Russian literature or listening to Russian music is far more productive than talking Russian to AI.

More and more people speak a second language nowadays, far more than 100 years ago, because technology has made it easier to travel. Second language acquisition is growing, not shrinking.

Wow, Apple Intelligence is something else!

I did a sytem update on my Mac and it installed updates. Then it rebooted and said Apple Intelligence. So I went into settings, went to Apple Intelligence, and turned off the switch.

The switch turned itself back on and greyed itself out. Clicking it does nothing. Intelligence updates are still downloading. Also the red X in the upper left of the window greyed out. I can't close the settings panel.

I think SkyNet just owned my Mac.

I am unfollowing most bitcoin influencers. I don't need to see how cool bitcoin is lol I already know it. As a community we should encourage critical thinking, not hype. If there are interesting profiles that go beyond beach selfies, tag them below. I want to follow them.
