THE FUTURE OF FIAT - CENTRAL BANK DIGITAL CURRENCIES 🏦
How do you convey the risks of a #CBDC to those uninterested in finance?
They're coming, whether people want them or not. There will be no vote.
Learn how a CBDC will affect your financial future.
Let's begin.

WHAT IS A CBDC?

WHAT DOES A CBDC ENABLE?
The programmable nature of a CBDC will unlock capabilities that are not feasible in the current fiat financial system.

THE "FINANCIAL INCLUSION" MYTH
"Our regulatory system is actively excluding people from access to finance. We have finally reached the point where access to basic financial services has become a privilege" - Andreas Antonopoulos

THE INNER WORKINGS OF A CBDC
CBDC plumbing is constantly evolving, yet the end goal remains the same - more control.

IS THE CURRENT SYSTEM ALREADY LIKE A CBDC?
It is true that the majority of fiat money is digital. What makes a CBDC uniquely dangerous is not that it is inherently digital, but rather how it can be packaged with other tools of the state.

THE QUIET PART, OUT LOUD
No need to take my word for it.
Hear from the architects of our CBDC future.

HOW WILL A CBDC IMPACT COMMERCIAL BANKING?
I've witnessed first hand a major commercial bank trying to come to terms with its role in a CBDC future.
Familiarise yourself the basics of commercial banking and how a CBDC alters the incentives of the incumbent system.
CAUSE FOR OPTIMISM
On a long time horizon, some contend (myself included) that CBDCs will ultimately fail. Until then, continue to educate others and seek freedom-oriented alternatives.

Speaking of rogue money, this quote from the show Andor is pretty awesome. I was reminded of it yesterday.
"There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Remember this: Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrections are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they've already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. And then remember this: The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this: Try."

Where my fellow AntennaPod plebs at?

Anyone remember the fourth Matrix film? #asknostr
Some of their best work
Bought as much as I reasonably could at the time and thinking back on it I'm still sad that I didn't go harder....
Merry Christmas everyone. Sned it.
I've given the Fountain podcast app a try a few times (including the 1.0 new release) and there are still a few things that hold me back from switching over. My current podcast app of choice is AntennaPod and I run GrapheneOS for what it's worth.
1. No ability to scrub forward or backwards from lockscreen.
2. "Skip silence" mode seems to be enabled by default regardless of playback speed. There is no option to turn this on or off (this is probably a bug).
3. Can't set the default page on open. Would be great to set it to library, or even go straight to latest episodes, as an example.
4. Would be great to have the option to show podcast thumbnails, rather than specific episode thumbnails when viewing the library. Makes it easier to tell what's what at a glance.
5. It's not open source - I know this isn't a real complaint and the Fountain team know how to run their business. This is personal preference especially given it's build around Bitcoin/LN.
It's a great player otherwise. Maybe someone will find the feedback helpful.
It's all so tiresome
Start9 without question. Plenty of optionality when it comes to hardware. Open source containerization of services. Dead easy to use. Great organization with an open source vision. Support via multiple channels.
Have been teaching myself to use it. Great FOSS alternative to Figma
