Jason reminds me of that guy who left his small town and joined the army as a foot solder, and comes back telling everyone how he knows government secrets and that he is now a big deal. If the army cared about his opinion it wouldn't be published publicly.
I haven't read the thesis, but it seems to me that it points out to government the need to control 51% of the hash rate. Government could fund manufacturing mining equipment like they fund military expenditure, with your tax money. This will make private mining unprofitable.
The first few chapters were good, but then he gets unhinged and goes down some tangents. It is quite cringe.
It's a pity because it could have been a great book to give people to introduce the need for bitcoin.
💯
What you are describing is the usecase of bitcoin which orange pilled me.
Thanks to Parker Lewis's article 'Bitcoin is the Great Definancialization' I've found myself with my jaw dropped to the floor reborn into a different world. And I enjoy every moment in this world since then. 🌈
This is the article: https://nakamotoinstitute.org/mempool/bitcoin-is-the-great-definancialization/
The article was also republished in The Bitcoin Times Ed 3, free download behind email wall available: https://bitcointimes.io/product/legend-of-prometheus/
Do you remember how you've came to this idea?
What specifically has made your life better since reading the article?
It's not necessarily a free speech protocol. Relays will ban speech they deem unacceptable. I've seen a few hate speech posts reported.
The majority of users are libertarian, relays and clients are yet to develop reputations on what they will allow and ban. This is where the ability to ensure your friends will feel welcome will come as cultures develop around relays.
Bitcoiners are very sceptical and defensive as a result of dealing with years of scamers and deliberate misinformation attacks. From what I have observed, overall it has been a very accepting and positive environment.
I think you are missing #[3] point. NORTR as a protocol allows lots of networks, that can overlap. The trust that it is a safe space is built on the relay (and client?) level. This allows for diversity of opinion as to what is acceptable, with the goal of being able to avoid censorship. This is a rapidly developing space, the changes that have happened in the 2 months I've been on here are phenomenal. Keep advocating for what you want to see and chances are someone will create it soon enough.
Zapped twice. Once from Iris and once from Amethyst. Only the Amethyst one shows as a zap
Hit a few follow all's and you will have 420 from the follow backs in no time 🤣
The rich and Government can't eroded everyone's wealth by increasing the money supply when they get cheap loans.
I got my 3 yo into Top Gun Anthem. Parenting win
I had one appear to go through but didn't show in balance. Then when I zapped again it didn't come up on the post I zapped.
Wife snapped before wallet of satoshi
Bitcoin, property the state can't sieze

I came to NOSTR because I think it marks the transition of Bitcoin from a discovery phase to a build out and adoption phase.
It is a bit disappointing that bitcoiners had to build it them selves, rather than it be embraced. But I guess you can't expect monopolists to embrace something they can't control.
I also think it's time has come. The enshittification of central platforms is clear. No one wants to share anything meaningful on them because they know they are being used commercially to sell attention.
I'm looking for a credit card that gives sats as rewards when you spend fiat. Any recommendations? Would need to be available in Australia
