The life of an early Bitcoiner.

Great fireside between nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx and nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m at Nostriga. I got a chance to listen to it now.
Regarding the question of whether Nostr will have more users than Twitter/X in five years (~500 million), my base case would be no, actually. And I say that as a huge Nostr fan and daily user.
In the long arc of time, Nostr's addressable market is nearly unlimited (basically everyone who uses the internet could be using Nostr in some form), but I expect somewhat of a slower burn. Infrastructure build-out type stuff. And breaching a network effect with a better solution is generally quite a long uphill climb.
To me, Nostr is successful once it starts serving tens of millions of people well. I expect it to be more of a quality over quantity thing for a while. Bitcoin is almost 16 years in and still isn't at 500 million users. But for many of those people, it was lifechanging.
I'd like to be surprised to the upside, but I also don't want people to think that if Nostr is "only" at tens of millions of people in five years, or 100+ million but still sub-Twitter, that it underachieved. It's tiny right now, and numbers anywhere approaching that would be a huge increase.
Nostr is a great improvement for everyone using it. But sometimes it takes people time to see why a given solution is better than what they have, or to realize they have a problem at all.
So in the meantime I monitor Nostr's success by the quality and quantity of developer activity, the capability of the protocol as a freedom tool or the shortcomings it still has for that use case, the quality of the conversations throughout the ecosystem, how many people consider it to be lifechanging tech compared to centralized social media, and in time, steady growth.
Well said, I think the most important part is not calling it a failed project if it doesn’t overtake x platform numbers by y time .. need to have a long time horizon to use this platform do it right and you own your data forever
I was wondering why bitcoin twitter has been so quiet this is where the action is
I think he’s sincere when he says he doesn’t regret it. He can die happy and at peace knowing he’s a hero.
Fiat distorts truth

I see it taking decades to correct unfortunately- it will just take consistent education and that should motivate policy makers and people to wake up and see what is happening that most chronic disease is reversible through diet and lifestyle. Lots of incentives working against this however including the interaction between doctors, pharma, government and fiat money. So much of the economy profits off people getting chronic disease and RCT trials are expensive and mostly pharmaceutical funded. It’s going to take a grass roots approach which should reach a breaking point in the coming years hopefully but people also need to want to help themselves .. it will be even more difficult than getting people to stop smoking.. its so pervasive in our culture to eat like shit, take drugs, not be active and live a stressed lifestyle, avoid the sun, get shitty sleep so much needs to change. At a scientific level funding needs to come from other places than just pharma and government. Hopefully some rich bitcoiners will help with this and other foundations which operate outside the system. I think people are waking up tho and social media influencers actually help there’s a ton of high quality information out there already from many smart ppl. It’s just up to people to listen.. bees don’t waste their time to tell flies not to eat shit they just go about their day eating nectar and pollen. In the same way it’s hard to convince someone to change their habits.
Amazing! Are there meetups or challenges to do?
Did the same and you see so many slow changes over time. In best shape of my life at mid 30s now
Absolutely. It’s getting harder and harder to avoid them - people are being programmed and they don’t even know it. Mass delusion.
Eat real food. #foodstr

I literally just posted and discovered this got me so triggered I knew it was probably everywhere but didn't realize the FDA mandate. It's unfathomable the damage currently being done to millions of babies drinking this garbage.
Reminds me of idiocracy: "gatorade, it's what plants crave.."
Do babies really crave processed seed oils extracted from plants, oxidized, deodorized and something that literally didn't even exist in our diets 150 years ago never mind exists in any other animal diet except our pets who we feed
You’re telling me, on a long enough time horizon there are a ton of untapped opportunities in the east coast energy market with the overbuild of renewables but short term it’s tough sledding. Great to meet another east coast bitcoiner few and far between!
