This photo was taken from the summit of Hanging Rock in Stokes County, NC. In the distant haze you can make out Pilot Mountain, 30-miles as the crow flies, 50-miles by trail. Wonder Woman is the oldest female competitor to ever finish the annual race between the two peaks in NC's Sauratown Mountains

We reached the summit of Stratton Mountain to be greeted by the first moose either of us had ever seen. Theyâre huge BTW. Wonder Woman pursued the thing for several minutes trying to get a good photo. I was way too tired for all that, so I just rested. I met this hiker at the first AT shelter in Vermont. (Trail name = Beardo). He was indeed hiking with a home made ultralight backpack constructed from a dog food bag. The motto of long distance hikers is "Hike your own hike". This is what that means. 
If this doesn't make you mad, you make me mad. 
One of the oldest sections of the #AppalachianTrail is the Vermont section that overlaps that statesâs long trail, which was first blazed over 120 years ago. My Greylock is the tallest mountain in Massachusetts, coming in at 3491 feet. There is a restaurant at the top and a kind stranger had given us money to buy a meal there, but alas, it was closed when we arrived.
